How to (Remove) Buff Scratches on Painted - Non Stainless Steel - Appliances

Hello,

I am looking for a guidance (preferably from your own experience) on how to (remove) buff scratches on non Stainless steel appliances. Specifically, I am looking for a guidance on how to remove small scratches that have not gone too deep to affect the paint, but just the clear resin on top of the paint.
Imagine a gray washing machine (like this one), and some surface scratches on top of it, that do not go deep to the actual paint, but they are visible under certain angles, as the top resin was actually being scratched. Can this type of a scratch be buffed, and with what, or there is a product (resin spray, wax etc) that can be applied, and then buffed?

Thank you in advance for reading and providing any helpful advice!

Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and a microfiber cloth. It will look brand new. WalMart, C Tire, Princess Auto all stock it.

No. You need to use an abrasive pad along the grain. Scotchbrite, but I'm not sure which colour (the different colours are different grit). There will be a how to on youtube somewhere. I use the same technique to re-grain the clasp on my watch.
