How to shop/search for laptops QUICKLY with 2 x USB 3.0 and 1 x USB 2.0 ports

Not for usb ports per se, but generally the smaller/thinner the laptop the less ports and expansion options you will find.

If you need more ports then look for a dock or a usb hub. I'm still amazed that they bother with USB 2 ports, should have been 100% USB 3 since a few years ago, just to save the hassle of checking the port before plugging in a HDD or flash drive.

EDIT: checked up on why USB 2.0 hasn't been phased out in favour of 3.0, apparently USB 3.0 is more electrically complex and requires more traces/space on motherboards plus fancier controllers, thus more expensive. USB 2.0 is simple, basically free to tack on, and is already overkill for most applications not involving data transfer or power delivery, so it's sticking around.

USB 3.0 is backwards compatible. So either just look for something with three USB 3.0 ports (this is unlikely for any laptop) or two USB 3.0 ports and then buy a USB hub.

but if you want to future proof, I would get a notebook that has USB 3.0 + USB-C
