How would you maximize AP with $15K

Hiya! I have to pay CRA approx $15-20k. What's the best way to get the most AP. Questions for the pros

1) I just got Amex business platinum. But I can refer myself for AMEX Business gold. Any restrictions on applying in the same month for 2 business cards.
2) when I got approved for platinum bus. The credit limit given is too high, can I get that reduced before applying for the second card? If that makes a difference..

My current plan:

-refer P1. spend $10k with plastiq to meet MSR
-refer myself for business gold, spend $5K via plastiq to meet minimum spend. I've had the card previously, like 4 years ago so this may be a risky move.

Anything you would do differently? I've held Amex Cobalt, gold, bus gold, and personal plat in the past.

You won't get the welcome bonus on the business gold if you already have the business platinum card.

The fine print,
This offer is not applicable to holders of an existing American Express Small Business Card product.
Maybe the personal gold? I read you can get the bonus again because it is now a credit card and it was previously a charge card.

Ah thanks so much! I'm glad I asked about the business card.

And I did not know about the personal gold! That's new, I shall look into that!

The fine print,
That's not true, despite what the T&C's say.

You don't have a preset credit limit on the biz plat, it's a charge card so not sure what limit you are seeing.

If you refer yourself that's a surefire way to get yourself banned from Amex.

As mentioned above the personal Gold card should work for a SUB again since it's been converted to a credit card for new clients.

Don’t refer yourself. Amex has really been cracking down on that, but if you have a spouse, you can still trade referrals back and forth. The biz edge card is a good deal for a $99 Annual fee. It also has the language about not holding another business card but I don’t think that is really enforced. 55k through referral or 45k plus $75 GCR rebate

Thanks for the heads up.

I believe Biz edge card points can't be converted to AP though or do I have this all wrong?

You can now transfer to Aeroplan, 1 to 1 conversion just like other amex MR points. It use to be restricted transfer like the cobalt was but that was recently changed for both cards.
