Howard Stern to take a two month 17 MILLION dollar vacation/Angers Sirius-XM subscribers

Howard Stern angers Sirius subscribers by taking a two-month, $17-million summer vacation.
Shock jock signed $500 million deal for five years with a cushy caveat. His listeners might quit over it.

"“I pay $20 a month for SiriusXM and I’m not paying $40 for re-runs,” one upset fan tweeted. “All Stern fans should do this … If I knew the new deal would be like this I would have rooted for Howard to retire.”"

I'm trying to remember when Q107 carried his show, and the shockwaves that came with.
Also - when did I stop listening to radio? At least a couple of decades.

In any case - nothing shocking that an audience that drooled and worshiped sleazy exploitative shock would also completely not care about Howard Stern, the person, who would want two months off.

Howard Stern was on the Mighty Q 107 Toronto (& CHOM FM Montreal at the same time) back in 1997.
(yes, that long ago!)

Never stop listening to the radio. It's your friend.

I think it's Americans getting the bum deal for the US version. The Canadian version frequently offers better rates all around.
It drops a few American Sirus selections, but oh well...

He negotiated a contract that someone was willing to pay. Either his employer is incredibly foolish or they feel the investment was worth it. No real story here until listeners stop listening to him.
I'm not a Stern fan, as he's a sensationalist lowest common denominator shock jock, like The Sun of satellite radio. But plenty of people still do. In the end, i don't think he needs the money at this point in his career so it's all gravy for him. If I were him I'd want more time off too while making bank. He's a shrewd and savvy negotiator that is also going to be able to get more paid vacation time, good for him.
c'mon get happy!

He's not a shock jock anymore, hasn't been for a long time now. You should listen to some of his interviews, you might be surprised.

He's more Joe Rogan style stuff, I'm familiar with it and not really a fan. But a lot of people are, I get it. But as someone mentioned upstream, Joe Rogan does Joe Rogan better.

As I said, give his interviews a chance. He's among the best interviewers ever. I can understand not liking his other content though. It's not for everyone. Personally I don't love his other content either, but he does incredible interviews.

Oh I've seen some previously. I think he's an ok interviewer, I'm just not as interested in most of his subjects myself. But I've watched some older ones such as Rowdy Roddy Piper (great Canadian) that were interesting to me. But really when I think of Stern I associate him with the crazy antics. I found some of them funny once but moved on pretty quickly. He's not in my wheelhouse but obviously must be to many still for that much cash. I have no issue with that.

Yeah he's the go to celebrity interviewer at this point of his career with the occasional ripping of staff members like Baba Booey.

He's three day work week must be really getting to him at he's age! Must be nice!
Up votes, down votes, they're all votes for me! I thank you!
