I just found this PC with good spec is on sale. all you need is add a ssd(Super cheap now), then you will have a nice gaming pc.

It's $799 on the website.

Save $60 when you spend $300 Use Code : BTSHP60
and GCR 5.5% cash back.

AMD Ryzen™ 5 1400 (3.2 GHz base frequency, up to 3.4 GHz burst frequency, 8 MB cache, 4 cores)
8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB)
1 TB 7200 rpm SATA
AMD Radeon™ RX 580 Graphics (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated)

Be careful this RX580 is 4GB version. But I think it's good enough for most games recently.

Ebates was 6% last weekend I believe. They dropped to 4% now. GCR has 5.5% which is better deal.
I have feeling that most ebate's rate is like 1-2% lower than GCR. They are making more profit on the regular rate these days.

Edit#1:

Thanks- tvt_t

I see Staples is clearing these out for $719.97 You can find $20 off $200 coupons pretty easily which brings it down to $699.97 before cashback.

I would say add CPU+GPU+RAM+HDD is roughly is almost same price after cash back. everything else(MOTHERBOARD,CASE,POWER SUPPLY,KEYBOARD,DVD-Writer,CARD READER,MOUSE, WIFI ADAPTER&BLUETOOTH) is free give.

very close. I had 2 gaming PC at home already. I would definitely pull the trigger if that RX580 is 8GB version. Not bad for third one at living room VR entertainment.

Very tempted - for VR - (oculus) forums say this will run most VR fine but 4gb is a bit limiting ... Will become obsolete faster than I like...

Is this machine good enough for 1440p gaming of recent fps games on high settings? (not ultra)

I believe at 1440p it would run most fps gaming between medium and high smoothly(over 100hz). You probably need 1070 to run everything high setting and 144hz.

Thanks OP! this is fairly decently machine. And yes, the video card alone would cost about $200-$300. Also was able to use the coupon code! For the added graphic card, this PC is way better value compare to the HP pavilion at Bestbuy with i5-8400, 128GB SSD + 1TB HD, and no discrete graphic card at $699

Totally agreed. I just watched some GPU comparison videos on youtube. This RX580 4GB is almost same performance with 1060 6GB on most games. Also you can take advantage from freesync monitors.

In my opinion, almost all the regular pc tower sold by hp, dell, acer is upgradeable. All you need is check the power supply. This tower comes with 300W PS. so there is not much choices here if you keep the same PS.

This CPU is good enough for most gaming purposes and regular daily task. If you looking for a powerful CPU to multi-task. go for Ryzen 7 or I7

The specs and price look good. Anyone know how I can add an SSD (2.5in?) to it? I assume it should be fairly easy to replace the 1TB by another 3.5 HHD (like 6 or 8 TB). TIA.

Open the case and look the motherboard. You may find the M2 port and Sata port. It's depends on what type of the MB inside. Use M2 port if you can. Then you can choose the type of ssd. (M2 stick or 2.5 drive).

In case you can't find any additional port for upgrade. Just unplug the HDD and get a 500GB ssd. Which is just about $130 now. (was 200-300 last year) and use some external hard drive for media storage,

Yes. I believe the HDD is very easy to get replaced.

I want to know before purchasing it ;)

I checked the web site and it doesn't mention if there is any SATA port or HD bay available, and hence my question.

I would think other than video editing, large SQL database, or VM hosting;this CPU, like most other ones in the same range, will be more than capable. Any differences between the benchmarks are not going to be noticeable. As the PC gets used by few years, most of the time, it's the software (Window) rather than hardware limitation that cloggs down the performance. The main selling for this machine is the added graphic card at sub $800 price point. Most system with nvidia 1050 graphic card is around $800-900 and 1050 Ti is about $900. If you do not need a dedicated graphic card. You will frequently find systems selling intel i5/i7 at this price.

Not bad. Although building your own is probably just $200-300 more if you buy windows direct from MS/ $100-150 more if you dont. Easier to upgrade for sure :)

Very professional answer. but I would like to point out this is a gaming pc. It's built for most gamers.
