Can it support the future upgrade for 8700k and gtx1080/1080ti ? Thanks

HP OMEN Gaming PC (Intel Core i7-7700/2TB HDD/256GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070/Win 10)
Here's the spec page for the 880-029 with Intel: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05505501
The motherboard looks to be called a Tampa.
Here's the spec for that motherboard from HP: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05502869

I could be wrong, but I don't think it will support an Intel 8th gen CPU (Z270 vs required Z370 chipset), but it should support a 1080(ti).

Not sure what is happening... They shipped via Purolator now it's being held at the distribution facility. I contacted HP/Purolator no response as of yet. They also removed the billing from my credit card sometime yesterday. Has anyone successfully received this product? I already sold my old PC and now I am stuck PC'less lol (you know the pain)

I ordered late in the day on the 23rd. It listed 25th as the target ship date (which I knew wouldn't happen), I then got a Shipping delayed message on the 26th, and it actually shipped on the 27th. Estimated arrival from Purolator site shows the 4th, but I'm on the west coast and it's coming from TO.

I'm not very familiar with ebates. I clicked through the 12% Shop Now button and placed my order. Unfortunately, the order I placed didn't go through (credit card validation issue) so the order came up cancelled in my HP account. I called HP and they put the order through manually, but it generated a new order ID. The order is still in a processing state, so I expect I should wait until it's confirmed and then follow up with ebates if I don't see anything in my account?

The exact same thing happened to me. I sent a ticket to Ebates with their "Where's my cashback form" and they asked I wait for a week and then follow up again. Here's the response.
"It looks like the store hasn’t let us know about your order yet. In most cases, it will take less than 7 days. If Cash Back has not been added after 7 business days, please let us know so we can look into it further."
I'll follow up again on Monday and see what they say. Someone in this thread said they are pretty good about manually fixing a missing rebate as long as you have the corresponding shopping trip listed in your ebates account.

I haven't received the ebate either, but I'm not stressed about it yet, since the order has not yet been finalized and the item has not even shipped.

I'll wait 'till next week as well.

Oh, seems they shipped it last night and that it is already in Boucherville (closest sorting center, which is still a 20 minutes drive from where I live... or 30-40 minutes in trafic). I may be lucky and get it today!

As for ebates, I'll update when I get it.

Still nothing on my Ebates either. Was told to stand put for 7 days after unit was shipped.

Man, that DVD drive is well hidden! Or, it may just have been a while since I last owned a desktop PC (I believe it was 2006).

Oh, and I just received it. :) Haven't plugged it in yet: it's very cold, and I have to install the Monitor on the wall first.

I am somewhat indecisive on an upgrade. This thread looks to be a good place to post my question given the spec of the aforementioned systems.

Is ~$1200 after tax for a desktop with i7 6770, 16gb DDR4 2133, GTX 1080 8gb, 128gb SATA ssd, 1 TB HDD and KB+mouse a good deal? Is it an overkill if only to play games in 1080 since I don't want to buy 1440 or higher monitor.

Am I better off (saving $800) to buy GTX 1060 6GB and keep my other components?

My current system has i7 3770, 16gb DDR3 1600, Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD, 1TB HDD and GTX 1050 2GB.

6700 may be about 10% faster than 3770 in gaming. It's not much of an upgrade. But 1200 tax in for that system is a great deal considering the 1080 would easily set you back 700+ + Tax. and you can keep playing on "Max" in 1080p for at least 3-4 years easily, much longer than on a 1060 which you will probably have to start dialing back the quality in a couple of years.

At $1200 tax in, I'd get the 6700 system and pawn off the current rig to put towards it.

Out of curiosity, which system is it that sells with those specs and price?

Frankly, I'd like to know as well. The cheapest I could find with a GTX 1080 is the Lenovo Y900-34 on clearance at Walmart for $1800, plus taxes. The pecs are almost identical, except that the Lenovo doesn't have a SSD, AFAIK.

I imagine you're buying a used PC or something like that.

It is the Lenovo IdeaCentre Y710 cube from Lenovo US outlet site. This is from a friend in US. I think it listed at USD940.xx. Will need to ship to my US friend. The part number lists GTX 1080 8GB and confirmed by Lenovo rep via chat.

Buy it, buy it now, before some RFDer buys it instead. The lowest I could find a GTX 1080 was $660, plus taxes. Add the RAM ($170 for 2x 8Gb DDR4 2400) , and you already have around $950 value with taxes. The CPU might be a bit older (2015), but it doesn't matter as much as a video card for gaming, and it is still quite capable, since CPUs don't upgrade as fast as GPUs from generation to generation.

No ebates update. I got $88.xx after my purchase. I contacted CSR and was told to wait till it shipped.

Now that it's shipped, I'm hoping for an update.

Set to arrive on the 4th from ON to BC.
