Can confirm.

I had a $2,000+ HP laptop that ran hot. The problem is that it also had the nVidia card that had the defective soldering issue. I couldn't get warranty work done in Canada and had to send it back to Asia for repair. They repaired it with the exact same defective hardware, and it eventually died again.

I bought an HP desktop a year and 2 months ago. the motherboard died last month, 1 month after warranty. now i remember why i hadn't bought name-brand in a decade, and won't buy again.

Me too of course; hence it was the first in my post above. 2 out of 3 of my HP laptops broke/failed due to heat.

On the first day of deals, HP gave to me...
A printer with a cartridge that is proprietary

Their laptops are fairly competitive now though. Better deals typically in Dell/Lenovo.

Yup - 1366 x 768. I would buy this laptop if the resolution was better. Even my HP 840 G1 has a 1600 x 900 display...

When cell phones are going the 1440p/2160p or higher, it is just not forgivable to have 768p on a 15" or 14" laptop. Once you get used to FHD on laptops, it is quite difficult to go back.

Absolutely. The 4GB ram is also a problem with phones having at least that much.
