Depends where you are and if you have a credit card that doesn't charge for foreign currency conversion.

As an example, if I were to jump on the deal:

$1160.99 + 8.5% Whatcom Ptba taxes via Point Roberts = $1259.67 USD
$1259.67 @ Feb 15, 2020, 16:36 UTC exchange rate = $1,669.30 CAD

Declaring the laptop, you may or may not get charged Canadian taxes. Coming into BC, it would be 5% GST and 7% PST making it $1869.62 CAD taxes in. Take into account probably an hour of my time, $20 in gas and $7 for receiving, my total would be $1896.62 CAD with Canadian taxes all in. That's not bad when a similar deal for a Razer was posted last month for $1811 before taxes.

The Max-Q kind of kills the potential of this deal

That is quite true. Unlike the 10 series where the designs were reasonably close to the full desktop versions, the 20 series cut them by a lot more. It's really a side grade from a GTX 1070 mobile.

not a bad deal for RTX 2070 Max-Q. but the GTX 1660 Ti mobile a just slightly slower and several hundreds less expensive. Will run cooler 60watts vs 90watts and longer battery life. Not sure bragging rights for the RTX 2070 wins out here.

replaced with GTX 1660 ti but then coupon stopped working so used the 5% Coupon for final price of $940.49 US.

Roughly $1,250 Canadian before export fees and taxes.

Why would anyone claim their laptop? Why not just say nothing and act like you brought it into the country in the first place? Maybe bring a laptop backpack with you and get rid of the packaging...
