HSBC Canada Android app - Fingerprint Authentication cannot be enabled if...

OMG the HSBC Canada android app does not allow you to add fingerprint authentication if you do not use the app as the security device. Also everytime you login it asks you to use the app as the security device if it's not enabled already. So bloody annoying. I know it's good to use the app as the security device (i used to do that actually) but i prefer the token way more. So i ended up uninstalling the damn thing. Is it the same thing with the Apple app I wonder?

on my andriod phone i'm able to use fingerprint, and on my iPhone/desktop it allows me to use bitwarden to fill in the password. Previously i recalled i had to go to my andriod phone and get a login code and use that every time which i found as a pain, not sure what happen but glad i no longer have to do that anymore.

Yes same on iPhone. I have mine set up as security device so it works with fingerprint for me but with other apps (like MBNA which doesn't support biometric login at all) my workaround is to let the Apple password manager save the username/password, then I can login with fingerprint that way. Doesn't Android have something similar?

I don't think the concept of a security device to approve important operations is paranoia. In other parts of the world this is standard (sometimes even required by law). It's just that HSBC's implementation isn't great (as usual).

BTW the reCaptchas only appeared if you logged in from an "unkown" device (i.e. no cookie yet), not every time. Same as e.g. TD 2FA via text. I have my browser set up to delete all cookies on exit but I added exceptions for my online banking sites.

Pretty sure Android does but i would rather just use fingerprint. Just annoyed that they force us to have to use it as a security device if we want to use fingerprint. I guess it's probably the same with the other HSBC (HK, China, US...) GRRRRR.

Just curious, what do you use instead of the app for a security token?
