Pretty darn good offer, considering what the rest of the competition is putting forth right now for travel cards.

Just be forewarned... their points redemption system is atrocious. You must redeem points in increments of 25000 + 10000x points.

You can't transfer to Aeroplan but I think you can transfer to BA or Cathay and Singapore.
You can also redeem for statement credit against a generic travel expense.

I applied right away. GCR rebates often get pulled or nerfed when it is a popular card. And most likely this one will be popular. I think this is the biggest sign up bonus HSBC ever offered.

Are these enough points? Which transfer would give me best option? I do like Singapore airline.
HSBC points can be converted to BA Avios 25,000 HSBC Rewards points can be converted into 10,000 British Airways Avios
25,000 HSBC Rewards points can be converted into 9,000 Singapore KrisFlyer miles
25,000 HSBC Rewards points can be converted into 10,000 British Airways Avios

So the answer to your question is definitely NO for Asia and very unlikely but possibly a One way J (biz) fare to Europe depending on off-peak travel via avios and destination.

pretty good earn rate for BA miles. 25k points at 3 pts per $ would mean you get 10k Avios for $8333 spend (1.2pts / $).
Anyone know if there have there been any bonus conversions?

Is Avios seen as best approach here for most people with HSBC or are people going to just credit back to their cards for travel?

Terrible, which is usually the answer 99.9% of the time when you have gift cards/statement credit & points in the same sentence. You get approx. $100 for every 33.4k points.

I can confirm the refundable air ticket/hotel trick works with HSBC though, so perhaps that's an avenue for you.

1a These offers are available to successful applicants who have not, in the 12 months prior to submitting the application, held an HSBC credit card account. Only one new account per customer is eligible for these offers. The account opening is subject to our standard credit review and approval and additional conditions listed for the specific offers below.
Anyone know how much HSBC enforces this?

Oh helpful tip for the TEC... You can make an Expedia/etc. booking and then claim the TEC after it posts. After TEC posts as well, cancel the booking.
