Many people have had bad experiences with HSBC in this thread yet only 7 downvotes. They must be doing something right I guess.

If I book same hotel through expedia, can I use TEC?

yes, if u apply using android/ ios thru mobile browser on device, u upload driversID pic and do a selfie pic/short video verifying biometrics, u will get auto approved most likely, not sure of OP has this info

Curious as to why people like this card so much?

If you can get the $100 travel credit refunded, it's 12% cash back return on $5K spend. If you transfer it to Asia miles, it's around 32K points, so you are buying AM for 1.5c each.
I assume most people who apply for this card has others without Fx and insurance coverage. It's not.a bad card, but 54 pages? am I missing anything?

u will get 115 000 pts for spending 5k in 6months! thats alot of $$$, then add in the 100$ TEC and the GCR 50$ cb and its a no brainer, course u gotta cancel the card after 12months cuz aint no one paying the annual 150$ fee after 12months lol, this is a pure pump and dump card

I have this card and I am keeping it and paying the annual fee. The only negative for me is 3% travel cash back is limited to $50,000 spend per year. I charge a lot more than $50,000 in travel (for my business), almost all of it in foreign currency. Is there a better card that has no fx fee and gives more than 3% on travel?

I have that one too, but there's no increased cash back on travel, just standard 1%.

At least they tried. Mine does not deliver on Fridays (3+ years and counting) and as of COVID, Mondays appear to be days off too.

Not in Canada, but if you want to get into the U.S. card scene, there are a few options. For example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve (net annual fee of $250) and the Chase Ink Business Preferred ($95 annual fee) both have no foreign transaction fees and both give you 3x UR on travel, which translates to 4.5% return if used to purchase travel on their portal. There's also the Amex Platinum which gives you 5x on airfare, which is 5% when used on travel expenses.

It takes a bit of work and time to build U.S. credit history, but it's an option to consider.

On the same boat with you, maybe next week will get the card. GCR? No idea, should be less than 3 weeks

If you cancel after the 12 months won't you be charged the second year fees?

Is anyone planning to keep this card and not canceling or is it not worth it at all?
