One (good) oddity I experienced the other day: I rarely do atm withdrawals but had to get some cash to pay a cash only barber. $1.50 ATM charge but HSBC rebated me $2. I made money on the withdrawal! (Limit 5 per month before someone gets too creative an idea!)
Which bank’s atm charges $1.50?

So I found out that there are 2 forms required for the referral.
One is the one we all see online.
The other is the one the new customer fills in at the branch when they open the account.
I managed to get a ahold of this other form as well.
So an online referral is likely possible if you have this 2nd form, fill it in with the new customer details, and send it off to either the referrers branch, or the new customer's branch.
retrospectively adding in the referral from online signing up seems to be working for me
just need to be careful with the paper work and involve phone calls (a visit to branch would be best for the account opener)

Yes, that seems to be working for me as well, just need to get the paperwork into the branches. So easier with Premier if you have an RM.

It wasn't a bank's - just a liquor store ATM machine.

To avoid welcome bonus clawback You need to keep the account open for 12 months after receiving the bonus.
the money in the account doesn't need to just sit there, it can be whatever, stock, rrsp, tfsa, GIC, everything

I'm looking to ditch SIMPLII/PC Financial for a more Global bank as I do a fair bit of travellig and foreign withdrawals ...

Anyone in the Greater TORONTO Area who has been through the process before wanna meet up and help me make the most of this switching promo? From what I understand, there will be financial incentives for both of us from so doing... I'm in York Region

It says account has to be in good standing. Do you guys know about that? Kind of debatable.

Not overdrawn maybe? Not below the 5000$ limit?

I won't have any direct deposit to transfer-in, or a full $100K to deposit to qualify for premier ... this means that at best I can expect to qualify for the Advance account that requires only $5K balance?

If you have a mortgage up for renewal or can transfer, that is an option too, as they have competitive rates.

You get a HP for their chequing accounts for the built in overdraft protection I think.

I got a HP, even when I already had an account and was just opening a new one.
