Hudson’s Bay shipped me the wrong item and refused the return

I bought a pink/white floral dress from the bay’s website. To my great surprise, they mailed an old grandma’s black dress to me instead!
When I brought the wrong item back to the store, I was told that item was from Sears, the stores don’t carry the item. So I was advised to go back to online customer service.

Then my nightmare started from here. I called the CSR, and explained the situation to them, then I used the return label CSR sent me to mail the dress back. However, while was waiting and waiting for the refund, every time I called the bay, I was told that the item was received and the refund is under process. Then last Friday, a supervisor called me and told me that the return was refused, because it’s not matching with the item on the order!!!

EXCUSE ME? Now you know the item is not matching, then what did you do when you packed up and shipped the item to me? Did you use your last brain cell and check before you shipped?

Today I received the stupid black dress back again because they refused the refund, which made me very very Pouting Face I have wasted a lot of time on this issue! Why should I be responsible for the huge mistake other people made? Is this how The bay treated its VIP customer? I have been an online shopper for more than 10 years, and I never experienced such a poor customer service before!

Every time I called them, first of all, I have to spend at least 10-15 minutes to explain what I suffer, then the line got cut off without any reason. Then I have to repeat the call and got cut off again! I will really sue the person who “cheated”on the packing and shipping, no matter how much I would pay. Bet It is better a mistake than a cheating! Stupid company!

chargeback with your credit card. you did not receive the item you paid for, have been in touch with the seller about it and they offered no solution

Brutal. I would talk to my credit card company to demand a chargeback be filed since you didn't receive what you paid for

The solution to this problem is to go back in a time machine and prevent your past self from ever ordering anything from The Bay. Unfortunately, since time machines don't exist (yet), then you'll have to settle for a chargeback via your credit card company.

Well it looks like time machines might actually exist, given that the OP wrote this:

Sounds like a typical third party seller scam.
This

OP needs to check the link to see if the item was actually carried by The Bay
(And / or post it here in this thread)

My guess too … it’s from The Bays Marketplace
3rd Party Sellers … SUCK BIG TIME
Lots of cons & scams
Good Rule of Thumb … AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

NOTE - These Marketplace Resellers linked into genuine Retailers … need to go
But in the meantime folks need to be aware when they are surfing / shopping online
They are prolific now
Amazon - The Bay - PCO Loblaws Group - Walmart - Best Buy to name but a few that have sold space in their websites to Marketplace Vendors
It’s BUYER BEWARE for sure

ya amazon and ebay are really the only place to go if u do want to deal 3rd party since they both will at least back u up with a money back guarantee. the rest of them are just treating these market places as were only here to take our cut of the sale and if something goes wrong your on your own.

imo if these stores like bb walmart ect want to do these market places then they need to set it up so u can just take the stuff into a store and they will process the return for u just as if you bought the item direct from them and then they should have to deal with all the hassle of getting the item back to seller or working it out with them make it as hassle free for the buyer as it can be.

Sorry to hear that!

As suggested, the credit card chargeback is the only practical option in this case. Bay customer service, logistics, and escalation policy are from last century.

(Had to laugh at the grandma black dress comment. The only people I know who voluntarily shop at The Bay these days are grandmas.)

Charge back because you didn't get what you order and they refused to issue a refund after you return it.

You’d be surprised then …
Cuz looking at the dress the OP ordered
And her comment made … she’s clearly not a gramma

Neither is a lot of other RFDers like @Becks (plenty of posts by them on great deals & merchandise @ The Bay)

Like any other Retailer it comes down to WHAT you buy

AND … WHERE you live in Canada

Stores out east are still a major factor

The Bay is still a great store for high end merchandise … like Designer Brands, Cosmetics & Fragrances, Jewellery, Furniture, Mattresses, Brand Name Small Appliances, Housewares, etc

Esp so if you …
* Subscribe to their emails …shop their promos & sales
* Belong to their Loyalty Program
* Carry their CC
* and mostly shop online

It’s just their 3rd Party Online Marketplace (and perhaps some IRL Stores ) that need to be avoided entirely

Definitely not saying OP is a grandma. It's just The Bay here in Vancouver, no one goes there because most locations are stale, run down, and sometimes sketchy. Maybe the even the shopping habits are different. If you want clothing, go to the outlets. If you want higher, go to Nordstrom or Holt.

Ya you’re not the first Vancouverite / Westerner to make these observations
Sad how The Bay has gone so downhill out there

But in the East lots of Bays have been updated & are alive & kicking
Cheaper than Holts
And better quality than any outlet stuff

Here’s a past thread in a similar vein to what you & I are chatting about
bays-15-cash-surcharge-1995261/

A bit entertaining too …
But lots of info on the comparison factor The Bay to Winners
And how one carries REAL Designer Stuff … and the other carries seconds & made for Winners stuff that’s hardly designer at all

Bay carries a wide range of product and OP clearly found something she liked online. While I agree it doesn’t seem like bay has much foot traffic, they somehow still survive due to likely insane markup or maybe they get a high percentage of purchases via the few that goto the store. Also remember bay signed lease deals a long time ago that likely cost them a lot less than market rate so survival is likely easier.

As still holding the title of Canada’s Dept Store (since 1670)
They do a lot of Biz. Period

These days that’s mostly online
And they are very competitive in that market

Personally, we rarely go into a Bay store (or to a mall for that matter)
BUT … Bay Sales online we do shop
Pretty often

As I said earlier … it all depends WHAT one is in the market for

But they consistently offer the BEST brand name linens, and other household goods
At the best prices when they are bought on sale / promo

And lots of other goods that cannot be found elsewhere in Canada
Cheaper to buy at The Bay
Than import from the USA

Seems pretty far fetched The Bay is going to ship a dress previous sold at Sears. Agreed this sounds like a marketplace seller, but no link posted to confirm that.

Think OP is just a shill and tried to get money back on an old Sears brand Jessica dress

Notice how OP never posted back in this thread since .

From post history counts, you can tell Op is more of a complainer than a contributor on here.
