There is no point getting 1 unless you simply want to collect all the games in your Steam library. Trine series isn't story driven, so why would you pay more for a 4 years older game that's much inferior, when you can go straight for the second one at cheaper price? Google it and almost everyone would tell you there is no point wasting time on 1.

slightly off topic:
Can anyone answer this which has played Trine 2?

I played steam Trine 2, multiplayer, difficulty normal, set so you can change to whichever character you want at any time. When both of us die, we go back to the very start (and not the checkpoints). Is it the "any character" option that does this 'no-respawn' headache?

*edit never mind, found the hardcore mode option last night.
