Hyundai clock spring warranty extension TSB (2011-2014 Elantra and Sonata models)
Wanted to share back with the community my experience that potentially impacts and benefits you. This is limited to 2011-2014 Elantra and Sonata models.
Last month I noticed my 2013 Elantra's air bag light would go on and off every time I turned either left or right. While going straight, it was perfectly fine. After doing some research, it seemed to be a widespread issue and Hyundai has extended the clock spring warranty to 15 years (unlimited kms). I called a nearby Hyundai dealer and had them inspect it. They confirmed it was a faulty clock spring and replaced it for free as part of the warranty extension (this would be about a $400-500 job incl. OEM parts + labor).
The TSB number on my invoice is 18-81-001-1. Searching for this on Google results in nothing but you can use the link below (I believe it's for USA) for more details:
