Oil dilutions, CVT breaking down are fine but fire? That is major issues. We have one and we are parking that car outside of garage. Never getting one again. Very fuel thirsty and heavily oil drinker.

But, but but.... in 30 yrs when those Toyotas are reaching collector vehicle status. They will be worth NOTHING because they will not be numbers matching anymore ROFL.... Finally might be a way to beat the used Toyota tax.

The whole engine FIASCO from Hyundai/Kia has gone so far beyond ridiculous. 8 to 10 years and counting... They hired all these friggin superstar exterior designers to make their products look relevant.

Then, never thought to hire a few metal-logy experts who could EXPLAIN to them. Hey stupid you have properly clean out the blocks after casting them so the little bits left in there don't block things like oil galleys. You bunch of gumbies...

I would snap up a used Hyundai/Kia if not for this issue, and the fact that it does not seem to have any effect on the price for the risk you take. Same as the crap from Nissan with CVTs. Both are so over priced considering that even if the inherent problems have been "fixed" under warranty. The fix still uses the same crap or even used engines that have the same potential to "explode". As attested to by the number of owners who have had 2 engines or 2 CVT's go in both makes...

May be only anecdotal, but my 2012 Kia Forte is by far the best value purchase of a vehicle I've ever made. Paid 12500 for a year and half old car with warranty 7 years ago and so far I've replaced the breaks on it twice and the serpentine belt.

Compared to every other vehicle I've ever had, it has been smooth sailing to own.

Maybe I just got lucky, but I'll see what Kia had to offer when the car eventually dies.
