I Am a Home and Auto Insurance Broker, AMA...

I'm a broker with one of the world's largest personal and commercial brokerages. I've seen just about every crazy situation, driver, and homeowner (including someone who just burned their house down with a blowtorch...).

There's been quite a few threads asking insurance questions, so I thought it might be of benefit to have someone qualified to answer insurance questions for RFDers.

I pleaded guilty to a speeding ticket (under 10 kmph). How long until my insurance decreases because of this?

I was paying 170 a month and now its up to 240.

Convictions stay on your record for 3 years from the date of conviction (the day you plead guilty, lose in court, or pay your fine).

Some insurers offer a minor conviction waiver for those who have been driving conviction free for 5+ years.
