[IKEA] BJURSTA Extendable table, brown ($79 clearance, $199-249 reg.)

I noticed on this week's Wacky Wednesday at North York they had a BJURSTA Extendtable table, Birch on clearance for 79.99 [901.162.61]. Went to the store, all sold out however the brown version [201.823.15] showed 8 at the warehouse. After a while of a kind self-serve worker's time, he eventually found that they were indeed at North York (not the warehouse) but had not been received/assigned a location so I bought 1 (7 left as of this morning). These are the old larger discontinued models that they are clearing. They are comparable to the current BJURSTA tables, just larger (http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/30116264/) which are selling for 249. Because they are discontinued, you will not be able to search them on the current website but there are cached versions to view dimensions.

For those in the market for a dining room table, this saves a quite a bit.

I have this table and love it. Very sturdy and allows us to extend our table when needed. It's very handy that the leaves store inside the table as well. I bought it for $200, it's a steal at $80.

Hey is it like a solid wood top? I am worried about chips and peel-offs. How is it holding up?

Thanks OP so table top is not solid wood. That's okay because if it were, the price can't be sub $500. $79 is a steal regardless. Question is will I be able to grab it... lol

Anyone who has this table can chime in how is it holding up? (i.e. peel-offs, chips, stains...)

Where did you end up finding it in the store?

It was in the back in their receiving I think. I had to go to self-serve area (where you pick up your boxes) near aisle 18 is an information terminal where there are employees to help you. If you give them the product number [201.823.15] they can help find it. He went to receiving and must have unloaded a pallet to get me the boxes because they hadn't received it to the store yet as of this morning.

I had this table when I was in Calgary. Bought for $199 iirc
Had it for 3yrs or so, sold it for $100 on Kijiji when moving out

It looked great. The finish is all good, no peeling at all on the top or on the sides. Chips .. yes on the corners.
Had some stains too because of hot vessels places placed on it without mats. But that’s my fault
Extended feature is nice but I hardly used for like 3 or 4 times.

It’s not solid wood top iirc, someone who still have it can correct me.

It is a great table. I have a light brown table. It is bit big for an apartment.

The only damage to my table is around the bottom of the legs where I bang the legs while vacuuming. Neutral Face

Have had the same table for almost 4 years. I agree that it's really great.

I'd understand if it was touchscreen, but whatever purposes these people are using it for, seem like a waste to me

Notice any other colours for $80? I’m driving up on Thursday and would love to pick one up.
