[IKEA] IKEA Eat your receipt! YMMV

Per Ikea website, "Dine in our IKEA Restaurant & Cafe and we'll deduct the price of your Restaurant purchase (before tax) from any home furnishing purchase over $200! Offer valid December 26 - January 5, 2020".

Not sure if this is available at all locations, but at least Calgary, Edmonton, Richmond, Winnipeg, and Ontario locations are offering this.

Sorry if this is a re-post, but I couldn't find this deal here when I searched for it. Also, not so sure about IKEA business practice after watching documentaries, but that is another thing.

Thread Summary
Combine your passions of shopping and eating at IKEA, because Eat Your Receipt is back and you'll get a discount on home furnishing purchases of $200.00 or more when you dine at the IKEA Restaurant!

Simply eat at the IKEA Restaurant & Café before shopping, save your receipt, then present it during at checkout to get your discount -- your merchandise discount will be equal to the amount you paid at the IKEA Restaurant before tax.

There are some restrictions, as the Eat Your Receipt discount is only applicable with home furnishing purchases and must be redeemed on the same day as your IKEA Restaurant visit.
Online purchases, previous purchases, As-Is products, services, IKEA Bistro and Swedish Food Market products are excluded.

So.... spend $200 at the restaurant and just pay tax for the furniture?

Dang... I didn't know about this. May I bring back my two receipts and ask for a refund?

It has an asterisk but I don't see the terms anywhere.

Can this be combined with the $25 off Christmas tree coupon? Also: has anyone been able to find the fine print of this offer on their website? How do they define “any home furnishings”? What would be an example of what’s EXCLUDED?

Can anyone confirm if this works at the North York location? I don't want to end up ordering a ton of food only to be rejected when I make the furniture purchase lol.

Could you not just technically buy $200 worth, get your free meal and refund the product?

They'll ask you to return the food as well.

You would have to return the product without a receipt to perhaps get store credit. Otherwise the returned amount would be whatever it was after the food discount.
Pretty sure they were also marking the boxes last time I did the promo.
