Indeed question

Does anyone have any experience with indeed?

My brother has been looking for help for his business and he can't get very many applications. He's had 5 applications after posting the job on Kijiji, Facebook and the job bank for the past 9-10 days.

I mentioned indeed and he decided to give it a try. He just called me asking if the website was legit because apparently they charge him for every application he receives and within 3 hours of posting the job he's had 15 resumes submitted to him.

I'm pretty sure Indeed is legit but I have no idea how it works. Are resumes auto submitted by Indeed or are there people actively looking for jobs on the site? Does indeed just auto spam him with resumes non stop looking for fees?

He thinks something is fishy and I don't know what to tell him and I'm the one who mentioned it so I feel kinda guilty if its just a way of generating fees.

It's not for me it's for my brother. Apparently the cost isn't much, that wasn't the concern. It was more of a wasting time calling people who are not really interested in the job. He's had so many reponses he's positive it's auto generated and people are not really applying themselves. Since 4pm yesterday he's had 56 resumes summited.

Yes. It is a legitimate company but very expensive to use for the employer. It works the same way Google ads works, they charge you each time someone clicks on your ad. Also they are terrible to deal with. They are very controlling with what wording you can use so you don't "exclude" or "offend" certain groups of people. I couldn't use the phrase "new grads welcome to apply" because I was excluding people who didn't graduate.

That being said, this is what most job seekers use nowadays, Facebook and Kijiji are basically dead now for job searches.

I have been using Indeed for a couple of years now. I started off with their free service. Never had to pay a fee. I started paying for their service when we had to hire a lot of candidates and needed more applicants.
I think if it is a once in a while type of hiring requirement, you shouldn't have to pay for Indeed and can just use the free service.
