Initial Screening Process for GC Jobs

Hi, 5 of the job applications I submitted in the GC Jobs website that were due in Oct.19 say the following:
"Your application has been retained. You will be contacted directly if you are to be assessed further."
3 Questions:
1.If it passes human screening as well, how long would it likely take for them to inform me about further assessment?
2.Do the jobs that require PSEE testing still require your application to go through human screening before they notify you about further assessment?
3.One of my applications was for the EC-02 Analyst job for Statistics Canada and it says the following under "Test":
"You will receive an unsupervised internet test (PSEE UIT 370) at the end of October to be completed within a five (5) day window. "
If I don't receive this notification by the end of this month, can I safely assume I didn't get the job, or is there a chance I'll get a delayed test (if there is such a thing)?

Hi,
Same happened with me too. I applied for Regulatory Professionals. Now application status show that your application has been retained and you will be contacted directly if you are to be assessed further...So what about test 370? Am I not eligible to attain test at the end of October?

1. Doesn't go through human screening, if you clicked "yes" to enough qualifications, you'll get the UIT 370 invite in a week or two. PSEE is conducted in at the beginning of winter (Around Dec/Jan).
2. You get picked for additional testing after the PSEE, usually by meeting a PSEE pass mark threshold and/or how many essential qualifications you have. Having gone through this, my resume was kept on file and used in human screening, but the longform answers I think were never looked at.
3. If you don't get the invite, check the PSC test thread in this forum, people will post about the test.

As someone who is completely new to the government hiring process, thank you so much for this information!
If you don't mind me asking, do you know the approximate waiting time between the second PSEE and being called up for an interview (if I get lucky enough to reach that stage)?

Unfortunately, based on my experience, while getting "Your application has been retained. You will be contacted directly if you are to be assessed further." is great, it's also kind of meaningless - it just means you made it past the first step but is in no means a sign that you will be hired eventually. Some times you go past that point, often you don't ... I think I was interviewed for first "indeterminate" job with the GC over 1 year after I had applied and started for them almost 2 years after the application date. (By the time, I was interviewed, I was already working as a term for another department). People do get hired from that stage but, from my experience, more often than not, the application will just stay there and eventually "time out".

If I login into my account and look at "Status of job applications", there are 8 listed : 1 "Doesn't meet requirements ...", 7 "Your application has been retained ..." (the oldest dating to "2015-12-14" - I believe, they fall off after 2 years ...

Depends on the posting. Search through the PSC thread. Agri-Food for example reaches out in January for additional info, and testing is in March, DND is in February, with interviews in the spring. The specific department ones should occur in the winter/spring as most positions start in summer. GAC/IRCC are the exceptions and who knows what their PSR campaigns actually do. General inventory stuff usually will contact you in late winter/spring for testing, with interviews maybe in summer. Basically from February and onward, you'll start getting contacted but it's completely random how fast the HR team overseeing it will work on it. Some competitions mark tests and get interviewing really quickly, some will mosy over it for months.
