Install gas stove - outlet with valve already in place - Do I need a permit and gas fitter?

Question to all the gas fitters and experts out here:
Do I need a gasfitter / master gasfitter and a city permit to install a slide in gas range

Some background info:
Calgary, AB, 2012 Albi built home.
Currently has an electric range. Want to replace with slide in gas range
Gas line (with valve) already in place (builder intsalled I guess) - coming through floor from unfinished basement.
19 inch clearance on left and right sides from surface to bottom of cabinets
36 inch clearance from stove top to bottom of cabinet (after removing the OTR microwave)
Range hood to be installed (in place of OTR microwave) with 30+ inch clearance from stove top to hood and connected to exisitng duct to exterior.

You need a gas fitter with minimum G2 license or G1 license ( not G3) to make any gas connections atleast here in ON. I will assume it cant be much different in AB.
City permit is not required. This can be confirmed by any local technician.

I think the OP mentioned that the gas line is already installed with a valve by the builder. That means all he needs is to hook up the gas appliance to the existing line.

Maybe OP can reconfirm my understanding.

Is there a tag on the gas line near the valve, or somewhere else in the house showing when the gas lines were done and by who?

Wherever you buy your gas range from will be able to arrange for a proper professional installation or just call up your local appliance service place or HVAC place and get a gas fitter out there to connect with the proper appliance flex line.

Yes CD
Gas line with valve already in place behind the current electrical range.
Not sure if I can hook up the flexible line myself or need a gas fitter to do that.
Kinda thinking - same scenario as the NG connection on a patio. Do we call in a gas fitter to connect the BBQ we one is purchased?
Difference I guess is indoor vs outdoor.

Hi Torontotim
All the gas lines I can see (furnace, hot water tank, gas fireplace in main room, outlet on patio and the gas range) are tagged inthe unfinished basement. The all have the same date (2012) and the same name,
Thats why I was assuming they were done by the builder as home was built in 2012.
Pulled out the electric range to check the gas line with valve behind it, No tags there.
Looks very similar to the NG BBQ connection on the patio.
Pics attached.

Thanks newlyborn,

Local techs I have called so far say yes - gas fitter required with a min $150 charge
All the appliance stores I have visited so far (Lowes, Canadian Appliance Stores, Trail Appliances) haave all said the opposite.
Will call the the city tommorrow AM.
