Intel Xe graphics architecture featuring Raja Koduri

Intel poached Raja from AMD not too long ago and now he's busy over there creating new graphics stuff for Intel. Apparently it's not going well:

I think it's great to have a third player in the discreet GPU market but I don't think Raja was the guy Intel should have gone after. Vega was an abject failure IMO.

Perhaps this thing will have decent compute performance which I guess could pan out in a lucrative way for Intel. It's just a real shame if this leaked information is accurate. The performance of Intel's new GPUs is way lower than even my previously low expectations for this first effort by them.

If it's anything like their integrated offerings. It'll suck. At least initially.

I do like the idea of having choice in linux for Mesa now with Intel using Gallium. Hopefully Intel improves quickly. Ideally all 3 trade blows and no dominance at all.

There's no I in team, it takes more than one person to make a product.

The lead designer/architect of these products makes an enormous difference. Jim Keller is a mad genius and look what we have now with AMD's Ryzen based chips.
