Item picked up by Canada Post then no updates

I would like advice on this situation. I shipped an item by Canada Post and the tracking got stuck on "Item picked up by Canada Post" since May 13th. Does this mean the package got picked up by Canada Post then disappeared?

I opened a support ticket and got the below response from Canada Post, which sounds like they're saying "picked up by Canada Post" doesn't mean they "received" the package.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Canada Post about your item identified below.
We regret to inform you we cannot confirm we received your item and are unable
to either proceed investigation or compensate you for it.
Your business is important to us and we have invested heavily in recent years
in state-of-the-art technology and procedures that ensure safe, secure pickup
and delivery of our customers valued shipments.
When a delivery is picked up and a manifest is presented to the delivery agent,
the scan confirms the shipment has been picked up by Canada Post. When the
shipment arrives at the processing plant, the items it contains are scanned
individually.
When an item does not appear in the item scan, there is no confirmation it was
part of the shipment. For that reason, we do not assume liability for it. This
is set out in the agreement you signed with Canada Post and it is the case with
this claim. As such, we cannot compensate you for it.
To request a label cancellation so that you are credited for the unused postage
label, please visit www.canadapost.ca/cancel or contact the Credit Management
Group at 1-800-267-7651. More information about limitations of liability can be
found in the terms and conditions on canadapost.ca.
Should you wish to pursue the root cause for the no induction, please contact
our Commercial Service Network at 1 866 757 5480.

Post the exact text from the Canada Post website tracking, as it's impossible to comment otherwise.

Also, where did you drop it off, to Canada Post, a drop-off box, or otherwise?

I made the request for a Canada Post pickup at 1:50 pm on May 13th, then at 3:20 pm the same day, Canada Post picked up the package. A few days later, the Canada Post delivery man told me not to make requests past 12:00 pm since he has to come back to the building a second time. It's the same delivery man for these past few months.

Looks to me like the item was picked up on May 13th by Canada Post
And scanned ... as per procedure

Then it disappeared

Not that uncommon in these Covid Days

Prob got stuck in backlog that’s been A FACT IF LIFE DURING COVID at many Canada Post Depots

Hence no more scans / updates

If you look around RFD ... you’ll find there are many threads about Canada Post during Covid
And lots of posts similar to yours

The good news ... for the last week or two
Canada Post is getting a good grip on the backlog (clearing out dozens of semi trailers that are parked at Depots across the country)

So just keep watching ...
The status will update eventually

Thanks for the advice. It makes more sense that there is a backlog, rather than lost by Canada Post. I'll keep watching.

Agree with the previous posts, but you need to get back in touch with CP to let them know their original conclusion was totally incorrect and there are multiple scans done on the package, just in case it is lost and you need insurance coverage.

Don't assume it's in backlog, as there is also a lot of theft going on right now. and you *must* immediately challenge the CP ruling.

As you can see from their initial "we never got the package" excuse, you cannot trust these jokers as far as you can thrown them.
