iTunes has the extended edition bundles in 4K at a lower price. Last week the LOTR extended trilogy was $40 ($35 on Google Play). The 4K upgrade just rolled out this month.

Do you need apple tv to purchase this, I only see the 720p version when I search itunes.

I see it now on iphone. For some reason the 4k/atmos stats dont show up in windows.

This has 4K and atmos for sure? I see a little 4K icon but I guess I have a bit of trouble believing it because 4K just came out this month and because it doesn't include 4K in the description for the film or size.

if you click individual movie it will show dolby vision and atmos

As I have learned from previous similar situations, the 4K disc still have better quality because it’s not compressed as streaming.

Inconvenience, physical footprint and slightly better quality. I assume behind the scene extras are available on thr blu ray as well.

The 4K bluray in Canada does not have itunes compatible digital codes from what I heard. Also they do not have the Appedencies and all the extras as the original 1080p bluray set have.

The Blu-ray versions have an average bitrate of ~70 Mbps with a peak bitrate during action scenes of 100+ Mbps. This is far beyond what any streaming service is able to deliver today. Most top out below 25 Mbps.
