Ivanhoe Cambridge x Alipay (Nov 11th Single Day Promo) Up to $300 GC (Bonus)

Retailer:
Ivanhoe Cambridge
Must use Alipay to purchase the GC.

New Single Day promotion from
Oct 28 - Nov 11th.

Purchase $500 get $25
Purchase $3000 get $175
Purchase $5000 get $300

Nov 11th is the Single Day promotion. Many big corporations will promote Single Day sale on Nov 11th. It used to be something else but I guess Single Day promotion generates more profits.

My friend was making fun of my dad saying that his dad bought him a 5000 dollar gift card using Alipay. Well guess what? I relayed my friend’s message to my dad and now I own a big detached house in Richmond, BC :) god is good Relieved Face

Thanks for the post, but out of principle, I can't support this deal. Plus, it's weak compared to the previous ones.
Tons of things for sale!

11-11 is to remember our fallen soldiers, not a shopping for deals day. Leave that for Black Friday and Boxing Day.

I concur, but don’t forget that China had nothing to do with World War 1, and at this point it’s up to the conscience of a Canadian consumer. Helping the veterans, especially now, is a right thing to do. Without them, there wouldn’t be a place that majority of Canadians call home.

This was way less than their $25 for $250 deal they had a few weeks ago...

I read Ivanhoe Cambridge is a realestate company, how do you use the gift card? Where do you buy it?

Yes but also respect that other countries have different traditions that fall on days that may conflict with our traditions, and it’s important to respect ALL traditions, especially because Canada is a multicultural country.

Which is why it's disrespectful for companies doing business in Canada to participate in a promotion of themselves on November 11th. That's not what we do, in Canada, on November 11th. The rest of the world can have a party for all I care, but the country I live in, we do something else on November 11th. That's what makes us Canadians.

They own some shopping malls in Canada:
  • Metropolis at Metrotown
  • Vaughan Mills
  • Montreal Eaton Centre
  • Southgate Centre
  • CrossIron Mills
  • Outlet Collection Winnipeg
  • Outlet Collection at Niagara
  • Premium Outlet Collection EIA
  • Tsawwassen Mills

The gift card can be used at shopping centres across Canada.

Why is it disrespectful not to shop on Remembrance Day? God knows there are already enough days dedicated to the altar of consumerism, I think other countries and cultures should respect our tradition on our own soil?

That didn't take long to make the thread turn into Remembrance Day vs Singles Day.

Okay, another fact: Chinese Canadians calls Canada Day (July 1st) the Day of Shame or Humiliation Day and some people close stores/restaurants and refrain from celebrating.

Useful links to educate people:
- https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/gove ... lusion-act
- https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-sco ... -1.4175025

And this happened after WWI and persisted even after WWII, but apparently not many people care (or people just choose to ignore).

Btw, I too feel sorry to see this deal discussion thread turning into a non-deal related discussion.

Although Canada Day is a statutory holiday and majority do celebrate, but as a Canadian you have the right to freedom of expression and you can spread that knowledge to others so that they are aware of it. This being said, there’s quite a few Chinese nationals that would still prefer to live here than in China. I am not sure if you would see Hong Kong as China, but I am pretty sure they would say something good about their ‘glorious’ country

Inherently, I’d agree with you. We should respect all traditions etc. But we should also respect our own. Even more importantly though, 11-11 is not a real holiday in China. It’s a day that was made up by Jack Ma because it sounded good. It’s like calling Prime Day a holiday. It’s actually just AliBabas marketing that makes it seem as if it’s a real holiday.

I'm Chinese Canadian and I've never called Canada Day that. My circle of friends is also 90% Chinese Canadian and I've never seen anyone call Canada Day that. I live in Vancouver and I've never seen a Chinese restaurant closed on Canada Day. I'm really not sure what you're trying to stir up.

Valentine's Day is not a real holiday either, unless you're uber religious, but 99% of the people who "celebrate" Valentine's Day are not religious and celebrate it purely for the romance factor. There are a lot of made up holidays from every culture.

As someone from HK, it is also a sad day as HK was handed back to the mainland on 1st July 97 (and used to be a day where there were large scale protests in HK, not sure if that will continue under the NSL...)
