It took over 13 weeks to get the points and I only got 30000 instead of 40000 through self referral.RolandCouch wrote: ↑ Any recent data points from people who got the AMEX Biz Plat for how long it took to get your MR points after hitting 5K spend?
Hoping they will show up soon and I don't have to wait 8-10 weeks!
Edit: I got 60000 for Personal Plat today, same day the transaction posted that crossed $3000 spend.

there seems to be significant number of occurrences where folks who did selfie got only the non-referral welcome bonus ...looking4deals1 wrote: ↑ It took over 13 weeks to get the points and I only got 30000 instead of 40000 through self referral.
it'd be a good suggestion to avoid selfie where/when-ever possible ...
in a situation like this ... missing the extra 10k pts ... you are basically stuck ... bcuz of the KCDCA mantra ...

got a call from AMEX (London, ON #) asking about the gold business card.
- Have you registered online?
- Have you chosen 3 suppliers?
- Who will have expenses with in future?
- What is the name of your business?
- Is this new business you are starting out?
etc. etc. I told her I was satisfied with the card.
Anyone else receive this?

If you've opened an Amex Business card, you can expect a call from 519-667-4844 (London). I've had them on my Telemarketing/Spammer list for years. It's "Bill Gosling" or "Amex-AIX", calling on behalf of Amex to gauge whether or not you may be suitable for some small business product offerings. Just be nice and tell them the truth...then add them to your ignore list for the future.amitdi wrote: ↑ got a call from AMEX (London, ON #) asking about the gold business card.

Cheers Speed. What's a better/best way to rinse and repeat SpG Card?Speedy1 wrote: ↑ I don't think self referring to exact same card is a good idea. Amex likely will auto decline you. Don't remember the 2 cards I applied for recently but they even auto decline me if the 2 cards are similar although not exact as amex thought it was a duplicate app. I think it was biz gold and then a week later biz plat.

Biz spg is extra $30 in fee but it's still worth it IMO. Then you can refer back and forth between personal spg and biz spg.
I generally wait 6-9 months after cancellation before applying for same card again but it's a huge YMMV.
I know others have posted that they wait much shorter to reapply again and still got the pts.
2 of us got both personal spg and biz spg. Thinking whether other 2 members should get biz spg as well.
Have to double check how many spg pts we already have now.

Is Plastiq.ca still the cheapest way of getting to the minimum spend? I don't have many bills, don't have a house/car, rent has to be done via pre-authorized payment. Paying $50 (2.5% fee) to get to the $2000 spend limit on BW is kind of steep.

if u cannot meet to 2k spend, why not just lower expectation and go for the 40k pts with with $0 spend requirement?

Would you still recommend avoiding self referral between personal and biz SpG even if you wait 6-9 months after canceling?Speedy1 wrote: ↑ Biz spg is extra $30 in fee but it's still worth it IMO. Then you can refer back and forth between personal spg and biz spg.

There's a 40K option? I thought it was just $0 you get 20k, $1000 you get 40k, and $2000 you get $60k?ValueHunter999 wrote: ↑ if u cannot meet to 2k spend, why not just lower expectation and go for the 40k pts with with $0 spend requirement?

They have 3 options, I think the OP has links for each of them:
1) Make a purchase any amount, get 20K (the commonly advertised one)
2) Make a purchase any amount, get 40K
3) Get 20K basic, $1000 for 40K, $2000 for 60K (spending is over 90 days)
Obviously #3 is the best bang for your buck if you can make the minimum spending and don't need the points asap. #2 is the next best, and they say points take as long as 8-10 weeks, which is still better than 90 days.

Referred my wife from my Biz Plat to Pers. Gold, and she was immediately approved. No referral points 4 days later...I *thought* referral points typically posted upon approval, but is it maybe on 1st purchase?

Data point: Self refered from Biz Plat to Biz Gold and just passed 5k threshold, 40k points deposited right away.
