[GTA] Korean groceries at wholesale prices (1st 1000 members free)

KFT Wholesale
This warehouse type store just opened in Vaughan. They are following a Costco format where items are generally in bulk and you need a membership for like $25 per year, but yesterday they were still giving out the 1st 1000 for free. Tip - fill in the online form for faster processing.

They specialize in Korean groceries and staples. If you like Korean instant noodles, this is heaven. There were also a wide selection of snacks and drinks. See their website for what they carry.

Prices generally beat supermarkets from a little to a lot. E.g.
  • Arizona Green Tea (24 x 680ml) - $21.58
  • Coke (24 x 355ml) - $12.88
  • Nongshim Kimchi instant noodles (4 x 6 packs) - $18 IIRC

Do you know if I would get it free or we have to get the card in person?
Thanks

As of yesterday, you can definitely get it in person. That's probably the best way to be in the 1st 1000. I don't know if they just mail one out.

Unfortunately no, and no free samples either. :-(

Must dial down the hype from other on-line sources that say this is a "Korean Costco".

Thanks OP! I'm curious to see if they have a good deal on Buldak Spicy/Cream Carbonara. In one of the videos, the price is $22.~ but not sure for how many xD

Is the Maxim coffee good? I don't drink coffee but thinking of gifting it if it is.

I went this evening around 6:30pm. Signed up in person and was not charged any membership fee. It was starting to get busy.

The products offered are the same as what you find at Galleria, minus the "made in store dishes". Small selection of bulk size fresh vegetables, no raw meat. We were hoping they would carry some of the brands found at H-Mart.

As for pricing, it's very similar to Galleria, there isn't any big bulk discount (ex: buying 8 boxes of Maxim coffee costs exactly 8x (flyer special is $20 for one...the full box was marked at $160 - at Galleria Maxim coffee used to regularly hit this price on sale. Full price is ~$25, I think it goes on sale for $22 since covid). Many items were buy two for a slightly reduced price...on most items you save $1-$2 by buying two.

It's no costco, but it's a fun drive and if you were going to buy it at Galleria anyway, this place isn't too bad.

Thanks for your write up.

I think a lot of us are spoiled by how little we pay for stuff at regular Asian grocery stores. Their margins on sale items are extremely low so when we see "bulk" pricing we might only see a dollar or two savings which on $20 is 5% to 10%. That % in grocery is actually a lot.

Re Maxim coffee....I actually don't see that special in the flyer.
We're all bozos on the bus until we find a way to express ourselves...

Failure is always an option...just not the preferred one!
