It was this low last year in July 2016. Still a great price nonetheless.

More like once or twice a year at this price and this is the lowest this year.

Kindle IMO, and I've had both. Especially at this price for a Paperwhite. It's a fantastic e-reader.

Any specific reason why it makes it a better ereader?

I had the Kindle and it is pretty good but I switched to Kobo H2O because I wanted the water proofing, really happy with it.

For me, the general feeling of it (the weight of it for example), and ease of use. Also preferred the e-ink look and options on my Paperwhite. That being said, I haven't see the latest Kobo from mid 2016 onwards so I'm basing it on previous generations. If you're someone who prefers buying ebooks (rather than obtaining by other methods), Amazon generally has a much better selection with sales all the time. It's easy for me to purchase something quickly on Amazon and have it sent to my Kindle with Whispernet. Although if you're accessing EPUB formats more regularly, then the Kobo can be easier. But easily transferable to Mobi with Calibre for the Kindle as well.

This is getting a big discount on bf at Amazon.com, it'll probably be similar with Amazon.ca so if wanted maximum savings my advise us wait till bf.
