Good find, OP.

But Kobo eReaders have no hardware buttons for advancing or backtracking pages. This is a non-starter for me. Others may have no problem at all.

I am still using my Sony TRS-T3 eReader which is equipped with such paging buttons. I can still download ebooks on loan from public libraries using the TRS-T3.

None of the entry/medium priced ones currently on the market have buttons anymore. You can get any ebook on any reader with calibre and the de-drm plugin. The text layout engine on the Kindle is atrocious, if you're paying attention to typesetting etc. Huge rivers everywhere, ragged lines, etc.

Kobo Forma, their $299 device, has physical buttons.

Yes. I bought it a couple of months ago. Nice e-reader. This is a really good price. I have both it and the latest Kindle PaperWhite. Am more committed to the Kindle environment, but the integrated OverDrive functionality of the Kobo is a really nice touch.

Nice to know.
But the price tag is too steep for my pocket.

How did you get free shipping? It's showing up as $5 for me.

Crazy. They can’t even get it right. Lots of missed sales like mine and others I’m sure.

I just chatted with customer service and reported it.

Who knows what’s next. Too bad.

This or the Kindle Paperwhite.

The kindlewhite during Valentine's day dropped to about the same price and people argued back and forth comparing to the Kobo Reader and Amazon Fire Tablet.

I love the idea of e-ink, but people keep saying that overdrive ability is more important. On the fence.

The Kobo Clara HD has "ComfortLight" which lets you make the backlight warmer/more orange, but lacks the Paperwhite's waterproofing.

Having Overdrive is awesome - free books from the Toronto Public Library and frankly any other library system that any of your friends have cards for. My MIL accesses the Toronto Public Library all the time from out West.
