People afraid about koodo bumping the price up. They never did that before and I'm a customer since a loooong time.
But this offer is specifically targeted to PM customers who are on a business plan that will NEVER go up in price...

So what is Telus' play here? Why do they seem to be trying so hard to get people off of PM??
The company is probably close to making their growth post-paid subscriber numbers. They are converting prepaid customers (PM) into post-paid subscribers (Koodo). If you're a Telus investor, I would sell into any rally.

So my brother got the text from public mobile, successfully changed to koodo's plan: $35 for 5GB. I was playing around and put his phone number in the validation code and it worked (I can add it to cart). Is this normal? If it goes through, does that mean I can port over (I'm at rogers).
it works 2nd time because the 1st sim (your brothers) hasn't been shipped or activated yet.
once that sim goes out and gets activated, the number won't work anymore on the website.
Sim cards are not shipped until they review everything and send out a tracking number email.

I received the text today at 1409 even though i ported over on Tuesday from the last offer. Number works online and everything adds to cart.

Hoping someone can help me out here...

I'm on the 45/8 deal with my number I want to keep. What's the best carrier to port out to so I can port back into Koodo with the 40/8 deal and $180 in bill credits?
Not sure this would be possible without a PM number that received this deal. If you have one, then port out to Koodo prepaid, then back in to postpaid. If you don't have one the only option is asking a CSR to switch plans. They may or may not. There has been mixed results today.

I was offered this despite just switching to PM 2.5 weeks ago.

Fido recently called me and offered me an iPhone X for free with $60 5GB. I'm extremely conflicted on which deal is better...

Telus is trying to get those who signed up in 2016 with the LTE data to move out of PM so that PM will become a pure 3G provider.

Telus is finally realized that some of the subscribers, who signed up with PM, are looking a budget plan and like to keep the monthly payment as low as possible. The first few migration promos got all the subscribers who need lots of data. What is left does not need much data. It is a waste to pay extra for the data bandwidth which people don't need.
Have too many phones... This is how I limit my monthly phone payment.
Koodo $30 plan, PM $38 5GB plan, PM $8 plan to replace Speakout,
Zoomer loyalty family plan for 4 lines $117/6GB, $0 FPL home phone

I would do this but my PM just paid two weeks ago for the next 90 days and I still have about $160 in credit balance from overpayment. I'm stuck.

The Fido deal if you want the iPhone X is better.

To get an iPhone X through Koodo, there is no $0 option, and the cheapest option on the 5gb plan ($35) would be a Tab Medium which would make the plan $50 per month for 5gb, but you would pay $990 upfront for the phone. This promo is not available on anything above tab medium.

switched to PM less than a month ago to the $40 for 4.5GB 3G speed to wait for koodo offers, received this text today and switched right away to $35 for 5GB on tab med for the huawei p20 pro.
honestly i hated the p20 pro. got it last week on $45/8gb and am receiving the return mailer for the phone. Great hardware, hate the EMUI coming from OnePlus and Oxygen OS. Camera was great, pics aren't actually 40MP as it scales back to 10MP. Not really feeling the big notch. Will continue to get OP6T when that comes out for a similar price ($700-$750)

I'm going to one of their kiosks tmrw to port out and back in with the text they sent me so I can get the credits. Should that work? They denied the credits when I called, but switched me to 40/8. I just migrated in on Tuesday.

Same here. Any luck with switching to the new plan?

The rep denied me and told that I have already used the migration offer once, $45 for 8GB, and that is why, not eligible for this one.

Now thinking, maybe going to the Telus/Koodo store can solve this, he briefly mentioned they have other interface that may, or may not, allow to do this.
