Shit like this should be illegal.

How the hell do you justify allowing one person getting this deal and then disqualify another person on the same plan and household is beyond me.

Just received a text from Koodo for The Gift of Data
Add-on 4Gb for $10 or 10Gb for $14
Available if you are on the "Koodo list for Offers and Deals".
Expires August 2, 2019

Text:

"Hey , give your phone the gift of data.
Get an additional 4GB of data for $10/month, or get 10GB of data for $14/month.
Reply ADD to get our 4GB deal or reply DATA to get our 10GB deal.
Promo is available only on select rate plans.
Offer ends August 2, 2019. You're included on the list for Koodo offers and deals."

I don't remember signing up specifically for these notices but I ported from Public Mobile on the $40 for 8Gb plan. I've now added the 10Gb for a total of 18Gb for $54. I spend a lot of time away from wifi for work and the weekends, so this is a benefit to me.

Note:
As mentioned below by u/peakingduck, you can try texting ADD or DATA to 5144 directly to see if you get the deal.

This is similar to the previous one sent at the end of April:
"Get ready to feast on this sweet data offer.
Add 3GB of data to your current plan for an extra $9/month, or 9GB of data for an additional $13/month.
That means more: streaming, messaging and tracking your food on your food App and less worrying about cutting it close to your current data limit.
Reply ADD to get our 3GB promo or reply DATA for our 9GB promo.
Offer ends May 10, 2019. You're included on the list for Koodo offers and deals."
Thanks for posting. Waiting patiently to see if I get this offer. Neutral Face

Is this YMMV?
Definitely YMMV and targeted to Koodo customers.

I received the previous text and didn't take advantage when it was $13 for 9Gb extra. Seems I'm on a list for offers and deals... don't remember how I got on this.
Also received this offer last time. Didn't accept it.

On $40/6GB plan, didn't receive text. Replied "DATA" to the data usage warning number (7817) for fun and received a reply saying additional 500 MB data is applied. It didn't specify at how much (previous warning messages say reply "YES" for 2GB for $20/month, "SAVE" for 1GB for $15/month. -Checking self service to see how much this random addin I just added cost...-
You texted the wrong number, the correct one is 5188. It'll probably cost you $10 for 500mb.

I feel these are only targeted towards users that rarely use data... I've never received any data offers from koodo. i'm on the $60 for 10 + 1 gb data plan

I have $45/8GB plan and never even use 1GB of data , but i never got any data offers from Koodo. I don't know how they randomly pick people for these types of deals.

Yup it’s still going. They relaunched it a week after expiring it

It’s a tab S plan so some people might have to pay off tabs to switch to this plan

Call them. They should be able to apply the promo to other lines on your account if one of your phones has received the message.

I tried that last time and they refused to do it even after I waited like half an hr to speak to a supervisor.

Didn't get the text myself, I'm on the 10GB for $60 plan. For those who received the text, what type of plan are you currently on?
Got it. $40 / 8gb.

18gb for $54. Currently at 8gb and I don't even go close, but I wonder if I could flip it.

How would I find that plan? The only options I have for small tab plans start at $40 for voice and text, no data.

Calling in.

The plan is unadvertised so it won’t show up on the website

In the past, you've also been able to text the word "offer" to the sending number (in this case, 5144) to see if you're eligible.

I got the text in April for the 3gb/9gb offer, but nothing yet today for this one...

Which may be true.

Though, I don't get why they don't just open up these plans. I can't imagine giving us more data actually costs them more money?
