Most rural towers use 700 mhz band 12, so missing 700 mhz band 13 is probably not going to be that large an issue.
You sure that’s the case with Freedom? I know the big 3 does that but don’t think it’s the case with Freedom.

Why is this being downvoted? Seems like a decent deal.

No... you can find some towers equip with the same bands as the ones used in rural areas. Sometimes I pick up B13 instead while on Public Mobile (Telus network) when inside my home... which is in a major urban area in GVA.

Freedom doesn’t have towers in rural areas but will use bands that have better range than speed to help with getting you coverage inside homes. Freedom uses B13, that phone supports B12. Wrong band, no support.

I do not think too many phones support band 13, so when the phone and tower supports it, the tower slots that bandwidth to them, to free up bandwidth for other phones. In rural areas of Nova Scotia, we have towers that only support band 5 LTE (shared with 3G), and band 12 LTE, which is enough for the population.

I believe, because of our sparse population, the CDMA network is slotted to be shut down last here. There is not as much rush to refarm the spectrum as in other areas.

Since when was B13 part of the CDMA network? I get connected to LTE while on B13. I only pick up B13 or B17 while coverage is poor, I can pick up B4,5,7 while in better spots or outside and my phone will connect to those over the lower frequency ones.

I was poorly making a point that some areas need spectrum more than others, and some areas can afford to have legacy networks to linger on longer on than others. Those areas are not likely going to see band 13 towers anytime soon. They are more likely to refarm the existing CDMA spectrum when they shut down the CDMA network first.

Ahh I see, that's true, if it works it works! Telus and Bell already have most, if not all, of your CDMA network down by now, so they are probably working on that.

I like how we got all the way here when the original question was if this phone worked on Freedom! I was just trying to say that the sole low frequency Freedom has, B13, isn't compatible with the device, which may reduce some coverage for said device.

Is anyone seriously considering Huawei even on fire sale?

DOA, gents. No security patches, nothing.

I'm sad because it means less competition, but I also feel vindicated because the P30P gang criticized upright Samsung S10 purchasers only a few months ago.

Recommend folks pass.

I'm cool with having my phone vulnerable to viruses and hacks as long as google play is still functional on the device as I'm not an idiot, opening random emails or going to sketch websites

If it drops to 50 bucks I'll buy it just for the camera and use it as a dumb phone.
