That's not how computer security works btw. There are far more ways to attack a device than you seem to think. A major site can be temporarily compromised and you'd have no idea, an ad can contain malware, you can be targeted over wifi, and probably hundreds of other ways. We're poorly secured with patches let alone without them.

EDIT: It is now a $360 phone!
Their specs aren’t actually all that great, half the speed of competition when they aren’t cheating.

Google has done a real great job over the years at getting people to not even think about security.

Ya. Google play is the most important.
I am suspecting this is the last batch of phone that will support google play.

Folks, if you value your security... and the security of your purchase information (credit cards, etc.). Maybe pass on Huawei from now until the end of time, or until they sort out this geopolitical issue with Google.

It will never go near $50 in Canada. Keep dreaming. The camera module alone costs more than that, come on people.

I'm buying if they hit $400 CAD

A security suite will protect you in some capacity but they tend to be much better at detecting known attacks than predicting future ones. Once a single vulnerability is exposed, its possible to build a backdoor into the system and there is very little avast can do about it unless it locates the backdoor, typically by the time it does, its potentially too late. Security patches are extremely important, especially because once the patch is out, it needs to be assumed that the vulnerability is known, so it is only a matter of time before it is a potential attack vector and it is much easier to break a system than it is to protect one.

LOL at people thinking these will reach sub $150. Maybe in 2/3 years.
