These Koodo deal posts really should cite their "Retail Price" and "Phone credit" (ECF).

Early cancel/upgrade will bill out a device balance equal to (retail price - upfront payment) / 24, for each month remaining.
That should be a consideration in an informed purchase decision.

You mean they'll stop supporting software upgrades after next week? I didn't know that! I mean..6 7 & 8 are still getting updates. Shocker! /sarcasm

The iPhone wont be end of life. It basically came out last year. A newer model will be coming out, thats why theres all these sales. Same thing with the pixel 3.

There's already a thread or two posted about it being $120 on tab M or $240 on tab S
There's no benefit to getting this on tab L unless you really need the 10GB data, otherwise I wouldn't even bother.

I think Koodo has great prices on hardware, I picked it up using my medium tab at 120$. But this year I picked up a few phones from them.
December: Huawei P20 Pro 310$
February: iPhone SE 168$ Refurbished
July: another P20 Pro 360$
September: iPhone XR 480$
Not all for me but family.

they may or may not be on the shelves on the apple store. Carriers are welcome to sell the remaining inventory.

Software updates and EOL are completely different... EOL just means they will stop selling them officially.

No, end of life means the phone is no longer being supported. The iPhone 5S from 2013 is at end of life since it's not getting iOS 13.

The iPhone X was pulled from Apple's lineup last year when the XS came out but all the carriers are still selling the X. They just didn't want the X affecting the XS sales. Likely the same thing will happen with the XR, doesn't mean it's at the end of life.

Why on earth is everyone downvoting every Koodo thread now?

You know, besides the obvious "I can't buy and cancel the next day" excuse.

It was too good to be true before. Why should any company not be allowed to recoup their loss of monthly recurring revenue if you back out of a deal that's designed to spread that cost over 24 months?

Yeah, sure, totally!

But can we address things like:

- Hiking tab eligibility and not honoring grandfathered tab eligibility (eg. People on PM migration deals)

- Other providers having WAY better benefits (eg. Fido Xtras, Virgin Mobile Memeber Benefits)

- Not being able to upgrade 18 months later WITHOUT a HUGE penalty compared to 3 weeks ago

- Not valuing thier current customers as much as new ones (less frequent or no gift cards/credits/bonuses compared to new customers)


But it's OK, my concerns doesn't matter because I'm not a flipper and seemingly Koodo can just do more non customer-centric things in the name of screwing over churners....

That was pretty much the only reason any phone deals got upvoted, though
Phones on 2 years contracts aren't really deals tbh unless you have a loyalty or migration plan

I have the $25 base plan w/ $15 10GB data. Adding an extra $10/month and paying $240 upfront for a XR on tab small would be a good deal ($50/month for 10GB data in total)

New customers who have to pay $240 upfront + $55/month for 4GB plan + $10 tab... not so much a deal anymore
