[Koodo] Koodo 6GB plan for all prov (excl QC)

As of today Koodo is showing ON some love with a plan to rival Fido's boxing day plan ($60).

6GB (4+ bonus 2), unlimited Canada wide calling, vm10, unlimited texting, etc for $65 with 12 months credit of $10. May be extremely limited in time but at least today and tomorrow it should still be available.
I just switched in store. It won't work if you have a QC number, even with a ON address.

Apparently Virgin also has a similar offering.

It is an in-store only plan. They are not advertising this plan on their website from what the guys at the booth told me. Also, this is fore NEW activations only.

Because Telus and Bell has better reception than Rogers?
Rogers: $60 20GB | Telus: $45 25GB

not in all places,
my lte speeds are way better where i live vs koodo. even at my doctors office telus has no repceiotn yet rogers does.
reception is questionable in some areas.

It's true. I would do this based on where you live and where you visit often because if you go by cell towers .. Belus wins, hands down. Rogers has lesser towers total, and I doubt they will ever be able to beat the combined towers of Telus (BC) and Bell (ON).

There's also the matter of LTE advanced (this is not 4G LTE) which, correct me if I'm wrong, Rogers don't yet support. And of course, you'll require a compatible phone for this.

Bear in mind that you could also pair this with a new device should you choose whereas the Fido plan is a BYOD and is not eligible for a discounted phone.

Did they mention anything about the international long distance? Wondering if they matched fido on that part too.

I definitely prefer Telus towers vs Rogers. I'm with Telus, the gf is with Rogers.

Yes, I got the 1000 min LD add-on. Not that l needed it since the country list is so limited. But still, it's there by default

So if we did this, could we also add in a montly tab and get a phone too? Or is it only for BYOD?

I failed to ask, that's how upset I was with the phone CSR's (dense, bordering irrational - according to them I did not qualify as either a Quebec-er or an Ontarian... )
But according to McAndroid's post above, it's not a BYOP only plan, unlike Fido's.

because the future is just that, a state I'm not willing to bet on. In 12 months the telecom landscape may be quite different so I'll take my savings now and worry about 2018 when it comes.
