I'm guessing plan is monthly.. But I would imagine by then the norm will be 'close to free' so google will continue to offer unlimited to people buying their products.

Total hunch tho.

I have a P20 Pro right now, would the Pixel 4 be an upgrade or not?

I would move for better rates regardless, just haven't found them.
Fido 3GB/$25 migration BYOD - I have that plan now, or 4GB/$25 to 15GB/$50 winback eligible for hardware (there’s a thread about this).

Migration from where? Internal, or from another carrier?

I thought it was only 15/$50. I'll check into the $25. Thanks

Hmm, I am a former Fido customer. I'm not interested in losing my Koodo plan though. I wonder if they would let me have that plan on a new line, without porting back in.

Photos uploaded before Jan 31,2022 stay backed up at their original quality. Photos you upload after that day get compressed slightly to Google photos high quality. As far as I know there's no fee involved.

Pixels are not thousand $$ phone !! $480 on Koodo seems like a better and more justified price though the $45 plan may not be that attractive considering it's a 2 years "contract" with ECF (Phone Credit charge back in Koodo)
Same with the Pixel 3a! $299 USD and $549 CAD. Like wth?!?! I've been wanting to get a Pixel 3a in forever since I missed out on the last deal...

Same with lots of phones. It is frustrating. Look at the brand new Oneplus 8 Pro. Starts at $899 USD in the States and it's $1399 CAD here. After conversion, they still charge us $130 CAD extra for fun I guess.

Not sure about all of them, but the Pixel 4XL has been this same price at Bell and Rogers for a bit now for anyone interested and with them.

Don't forget the HST sales tax in Canada.

How long does your battery last on average, before recharging is required if you are using the camera and other regular features?
How is the camera/ picture quality, compared to other high-end smartphones?

ohwowhi wrote: Is there any way for a new customer to get a phone right now with Koodo? My girlfriend signed up with Koodo a little over a month ago just for a plan as she had finished her contract with Rogers and was going to wait for a decent deal at Koodo. She tried ordering the Pixel 4 online and it won't let her as her account has been active less than 90 days, we've called in multiple times and they outright refuse to sell a phone to her online or over the phone and insist she wait until the pandemic ends and stores re-open. I've even asked if they can move her line to my account which is 3+ years old and again, they want 90 days before they'll do it over the phone.

Are they just not accepting new customers during the pandemic? It seems crazy they don't have some system in place for this given the circumstances.
Uranium101 wrote: That is really annoying.
When signing up, I didn’t want a phone because there was no deal. I thought I can just get a phone anytime I want.

Anyways, they were able to sell me a phone that are not on sale, not those discounted phone when I called them. I am puzzled as to why they can sell me certain phones and not the ones I want.
ohwowhi wrote: Yeah same experience here. After about 3 phone calls a supervisor finally told us there was a small number of phones that we could pick from. Unfortunately none of them were close to what we were looking at. I think it was a couple cheap LG's, a few iPhone's and a Samsung S10E.

It's a bummer because I got her to signup as I'd had really great experiences with Koodo over the years and we knew she wanted a Pixel 4 so we figured there'd be no harm just signing up now and upgrading when a deal came along. I kind of understand their 90 day policy to prevent fraud, it just gets super confusing that they don't have a system in place during Covid (Maybe a scan of your ID?) and on top of that they have a select list of phones you can upgrade to before 90 days with some being very valuable like the iPhone 11, so in terms of risk mitigation from fraud it makes zero sense.

Overall just a bizarre and annoying system
What are you guys talking about? If you don't have any phone with your current plans, and your plans are tab eligible, just grab a phone online for that tab. If not tab eligible, you have to switch to an eligible plan - that's how they make money (on monthly plan).

Try it and then tell us how it goes:
1) Register for a new email address.
2) Sign up with Koodo online with that new email address.
3) When registering, choose BYOP.
4) Now go and try to get a phone online using your new line afterwards.

Then you will understand what we were talking about. It will tell you to get a phone from a store.

Sure will do it and let you know in a few months. But if you can't, it just means your plan is not tab eligible. Nothing prevents you from cancelling that BYOP line and get another one. I just added a line without a hitch.

I would too, I have a pixel 4 xl and it's really not that good. I'm very disappointed in it.

Was much happier with my pixel 2 or my Nexus 6p.

My wife and will probably not go android next time cause these units.

He did say, "if your plans are tab eligible". Of course, if you had chosen a BYOP plan, then you can't add a device without switching to an in-market, tab-eligible plan.
