[Koodo] *Possible HOT deal YMMV* $39/month for 10gb data with unlimited talk & text [$25 talk & text plan + $14 add-on 10gb]

Until July 21, 2019 Koodo has a promo for "new customers only" but some have reported calling in and getting existing plans downgraded to it. It is available on BYOD or Small Tab and it is $25/month for unlimited Canada wide talk & text/MMS (plus voicemail, caller ID etc). No, you can't sign up in store or online for this $25 talk & text plan and do a data add-on as far as I know, that would be too easy. Perhaps there are work-around methods to getting this though...calling customer service after sign-up, chatting online Koodo facebook, etc (I hope?)

*SOME* Koodo users have reported getting a promo text message recently advertising various data add-ons, one of which (YMMV depending on user) is a sweet deal of $14 for 10gb.

Some have managed to call in to Koodo, downgrade their existing plan to the new $25 talk & text plan then reply to the promo text message to get the data add-on, thus getting $25 for talk & text + $14 for 10gb of Shock-Free data which makes it damn near the hottest mobile plan in Canada.

Let's try and discuss tips and tricks to obtain this deal for both existing Koodo customers and new ones looking to join.

Let's hope maybe other mobile carriers follow suit (doubtful).

Power to the people.

Thread Summary
3 Step Process

1. Be existing Koodo Customer like from PM Migration Plans who received the Add-On Promo Text $14 for 10 gb. If you didn't receive this text, you are out of luck.
2. Call into Koodo and ask to switch to the $25 Unlimited Talk and Text Plan. This plan is currently offered only for "new activations" and some of us were unable to get switched over while others were so YMMV.
3. If successfully switched over the $25 plan, text the promo code to get your $14 for 10 gb add-on.

Unless you're an existing Koodo customer who has received a text message offering $14 for 10GB, you can't get the data portion of this deal.

The $25 talk/text portion of the deal is supposed to be for new activation only. Existing Koodo customers, who aren't willing to buy a new phone, need to negotiate with supervisors or CSRs to get their existing plans downgraded.

NEW METHOD WHICH DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO CALL IN, ONLY WORKS IN YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE TEXT!!!!

I can confirm that lyh_chnxm's method works perfectly.

Process:

1. Receive Koodo Promo text
2. Add a new phone to your current line. Pick one of the CPO phones that are offering a $120 Bill Credit on Tab Small. The Samsung Galaxy A5 is probably your best bet in terms of value.
3. At Check-out, switch your plan to the $25 Unlimited Talk and Text
4. Agree to pay off remaining Balance off any Tabs you currently have.
5. After the switch has been confirmed, go back and reply to your original promo text
6. Check your Self Serve Account and you should have the $25 plan listed along with 10 gb in Add On Data and your Koodo Tab should also be updated as well with whatever balance you now owe on it from the phone you bought.

Note: The $10 per month Bill credit for the year is not listed anywhere on the Self Serve, but I believe in the past when I have had credits on Koodo that they just get applied to your bill each month. Worst case scenario, you don't get the credit and can just consider selling the phone to offset the tab costs.

if only!
Koodo targets people for that, I can't (or have not) been given the chance to get that add on.

I did get a 2gb for $5 offer though, which I took. 6gb for $50.

Was going to go with it combined with the $14 10gb add-on, but I only see it under BYOD, and am not able to change my current PM Migration plan to it under self serve (I only see plans starting at $30).
