What makes the xs, a 3 year old phone at this cost, a good price compared to an se 2nd gen? Phones become obsolete so fast... 3 years is now ancient is it not?

Decent deal for those who want a 6.5" display and 4GB RAM. Still has at least another 3 years of iOS updates, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

SE is a 4.7 inch LED screen
Xs is a 5.8 inch OLED bezel-less screen
Xs max is a 6.46 inch OLED bezel-less screen

I won't get it not because it's 3 years old but because the price is not there for me - I'd have to add an additional $5 just to be qualified to get the phone.

At an additional cost of $22x24 = $528 + tax = $591CAD, I can do better getting a 256gb phone with less.

With the permanent $5 charge and locking me in for 2 years, this is no deal - at least for me.

Edit: Do read this thread's 21st post if you're in the same position as I, there's something I found out regarding this plan.

Being less than 1/3 the price of a iPhone 12 Pro Max helps.

The SE uses a 7 year old form factor with a battery that doesn't last a day, assuming you can live with the tiny display.

You must be spending most of your day on the phone. My SE lasts me more than enough between browsing, phone calls and the occasional video with more than 30% left at the end of the day.

You'd be crazy to take an se2 over an xs max....

I’d buy this for $400. Orchard selling same thing for $650

Many of us in the same boat with the $40 migrated plans that qualify for no phone subsidy with Koodo.
Will need a new phone soon, will either have to switch or buy outright.

Thanks OP!

Not sure why all the downvotes. I get it, 2-3 years old, but this is still an excellent phone.

And I’ll tell you why I like the deal - been trying to find a larger phone for my MIL. She highly prefers larger display, but is much more budget conscious. The SE is really what would be ideal for her budget but the screen size is too small

Yes, it's under Settings --> Battery --> Battery Health

This provides a percentage to which the battery can be charged. For example, my 12 Mini purchased on launch day last year still has a battery health of 99%. This means the battery is 1% degraded, which is quite good all things considered.

Exactly. I cannot believe people are actually comparing the XS Max to the SE... They are entirely different form factors. You don't need to "spend all day on your phone" to notice the advantages of that screen compared to one that should have been obsolete half a decade ago.

Paying $400+ for a Preowned iPhone is still expensive IMO, especially for an old generation
