Koodo Price Increase: Tab Medium Jumps to $55, Tab Small $45, Less Data

https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/carriers/ ... medium-55/
Tab Medium has increased yet again, with the minimum plan now $55 per month, which includes 2GB data and unlimited minutes and messaging. The $5 increase has added unlimited minutes, but reduced data by half.
...
The $45 [Tab Small] entry plan includes unlimited minutes and messaging and pay-per-use data at $10 for 100MB.

This is bad.
Small tab from $35 to $45 - $10 increase
Medium tab from $45 to $50 and now to $55 - $10 increase

We will continue to see people to activate and cancel the next day.
Have too many phones... This is how I limit my monthly phone payment.
Public Mobile $34 15GB, $11 250MB, 2x $5 50min/50text, $0 FPL home phone,
Fido $5 4GB plan with a free tablet.

OP should get a thumbs up for raising awareness. It is not right to kill the messenger.

you seriously couldn't tell that was a joke?

if not, stop posting in all the phone threads, turn off the computer and go outside for a walk and some fresh air.

They also increased the price in Québec (by $5 from what I can tell), which is strange because of Fizz's offers are very aggressive.

They'll all price increase until they lose market share.

Not if the monopoly partners have been consulted prior and all are on board to act in unison.

To an extent.

I mean, if a talk and text monthly plan starts levelling up in price to a day's wage, we may see new entrants justify the cost of tower deployment, or more users flocking to data only plus VoIP app for their phones.

Yeah, those white knights were Public Mobile, Mobilicity, Wind. Look where they are now. Freedom is the only one standing and most of us who used their service is too scared to go back.

Just an FYI to update anybody following this thread - the minimum threshold is actually still $50 for medium tab and $40 for small tab. I spoke to somebody at Koodo (regarding my CCTS complaint about my PM migration plan) and she confirmed that the minimums are still what they were set to back in March, it's just that they don't currently happen to be offering any plans that cheap. But if a promo comes up with plans at $40/$50, they'll still be eligible for tab small/medium respectively.

If Koodo does not offer any $40 or $50 plan again, you will not be able to get HUP. Sneaky...

Nope. If your existing plan is a $40 or $50 plan, you'll still be able to get a HUP without changing plans. It's only once the minimum threshold actually changes (like it did in march, from $35 to $40 and $45 to $50, and like it likely will in March of next year) that you won't be able to keep your plan and do a HUP. Your plan doesn't have to be in-market to HUP and keep it, it just has to meet the minimum price threshold.
