YMMV Koodo/Telus winback offer $27.5/30GB + $40 credit with 2 lines and Telus home internet

Retailer:
Koodo & Telus
I ported two lines from Koodo to Fido in Dec 2021 for the $35/12GB promotion.

Today I got a call from Telus (not from Koodo). The guy mentioned I was eligible for their winback offer: $50/month for 30 GB high-speed data each line. After 30GB high-speed data (5G or 4G depending on where you live), the speed is reduced to 512kbps for unlimited usage.

He was able to apply $7.5 family discount for each line. I told him I am also a Telus home internet customer. He checked my account and said he could apply another $15 discount for each line. He also gave me a $40 one time credit per line.

I ended up having $50-$7.5-$15 = $27.5/month plus $40 credit for each line. I am living in a 5G region which might be a bonus. The price itself was attractive so I accepted this offer.

For those who ported out from Koodo recently, you might be interested in this offer if you are currently using Telus home internet.

1. Do you need to be a Koodo customer for a long time to get the winback offer call from Koodo/Telus?

No. I was just with Koodo for less than 2 months...I have my own phones so my plans with Koodo were BYOD plans.

2. Is the activation fee waived?

Yes. And no sim card cost.

3. What if you cancel your internet service with Telus after?

It won't affect your monthly bills for the phone. You will still get $7.5+$15 discount.

4. How long will the discount be applied to your account?

24 months. After 24 months it will be $50/month.

I've gotten the similar deal 30GB plan when I call them on Dec 31.

I am porting over 4 lines though.

For me it is $50 - $15 - $15 = $20 per line
-$15 for Telus home internet
-$15 for family discount (only $10 if I port over 3 lines, $15 for 4 lines)

However, the agent said the one of the discount need a few months to kick it (in March).

But I have not received the sim cards by mail yet.

I thought when you have Telus internet, you get the discount on the internet plan and not on the mobile plan?

They call me in Nov about Koodo plans $35 for 3GB after Telus home internet discount.
Shaw also giving discount (or even free with just voice/text) on Freedom mobile so it is not too surprising with Telus following the same.

I just call Telus home service and ask about mobile deal and got transfer to Telus Mobility business department I think.
I think you need to port over a few lines.

You can try these numbers which I need to call them back once I got my sim card to finish the port over.

Care to expand on this?

I've been with Rogers(Cantel AT&T) all my life since the early 90's and only moving to Koodo/Telus about 10 years ago.
With Koodo/Telus I don't think I've ever had to call in for anything once set up and don't recall any dropped service. They've also have/had the best phone and plan deals as well.

I cannot fault the Koodo service as a matter of fact I am just messaging with them now.
Any problem that I have had re billing or credits have been taken care of either during a call back or messages on Facebook or twitter .

I think the biggest problem with Koodo is that their service has declined from a customer satisfaction perspective over the years.

There are reports here on RFD where customers had their $0 5gb data add-on, $0 LD mins increase in price. Also I think the $15 10gb data add on also increased to $20 for some users. While this is not any worse than other carriers, Koodo was previously known for NOT increasing prices for existing customers.

Secondly, Koodo keeps raising the minimums for their tabs and in some cases even if you are higher than the minimum your plan is still not eligible. Once tab eligible plans are no longer eligible even though the price of the plan meets the minimum price.

I ported out 2 lines (one in Sept and the other in Dec) from Koodo because they refused to match in market plans claiming they were for new customers only. In the past, Koodo treated existing customers better as they always had better plans than a new customer. Now it is the opposite. It sucks hearing "Your plan is already very good and the cheaper plan with more data is only for new customers." I told Koodo I was willing to pay $40 for 10gb as I needed a bit more data (was on $35 7gb). The best they offered was $45 for 8gb when the in-market plans were $35 for 12gb. The last rep I spoke to literally said, "I don't want to insult you with the offers I have".

Just called the 1-866-448-8030 number. Spoke to someone letting them know of the winback offers I'm getting from other carriers, and they didn't provide me with any counter offers.
