Koodo waiving tab balance

Just got a text message from Koodo about waiving tab balance by "renewing" with Koodo by May 31st.

"If you renew with Koodo by May 31, 2019 we'll waive your Tab balance. Seriously."

I can't see any mention of this in the self serve area of the Koodo website though. AFAIK, I am not in a plan that even requires renewal (8GB for $40 PubMob offer).

Edit:
This seems like a poorly executed, veiled attempt to move people off of their plum $40/45 6/8GB Public Mobile transfer offers.
You only get your tab balance paid off if you get a new phone on a tab plan. Since the $40 plan is no longer large enough for a tab, you're forced to get a more expensive, worse plan. No going back.

Cold deal. Sorry for posting.

Do you mean to say you don't actually have a tab balance currently? Is this a single line account or multiple?

Btw I don't think Hot Deals is the right section for this.

I have two tab balances, on the two lines on the account.

Waiving a tab balance isn't hot? Certainly YMMV, but pretty still.

By "renewing" they mean "upgrading to a new phone".

I got the same deal offer, also nothing in self serve. I contacted them on Twitter, they manually added a different promo to my account (that gives me 100% off my current tab if I upgrade online, or 75% off if I upgrade in-store - but she said to get the deal in store I just have to show them the text message and they'll be able to give me the 100% off too). The good thing about the manually added promo is that it doesn't expire for 90 days, as opposed to at the end of May like the one from the text message :)

Completely YMMV & only available to those who have the offer. You'd also have to change your plan to an in-market one to account for the new tab balance.

would you mind sharing whats the tab balance in your account? if it is $50, i think it is OK. if it is $500, i doubt Koodo will be so generous...

Sure. One account has a tab balance of $225, the other is $120.

Koodo is probably trying to move you from that migration plan to a higher priced plan. I think even medium tab plans require a minimum $50 plan. If you can work it so they waive your tab, allow you to stay on that plan, and pickup a discounted phone on tab that would be hot.

I have a lot of tab balance that I don't mind having them pay off for me. Unfortunately, I have not been targeted.
Koodo $40/6GB

If you're on the $40 plan you can't even upgrade the phone because all the tabs require plan of $55/m or more. They really want people off the grandfathered plan desperately.

What plan are you on now, and what is your tab balance, if you have one?

If you don't have a tab balance and received the text, they want to move you off of that sweet plan in your sig.

Interesting so they offer free tab wipe out to some and others they double charge the tab. Document EVERYTHING and hold it for three years. Including phone calls.

$40 for 8 gb. I have only $80 on tab as I opted for tab small back than.

That's mostly my situation as well - $80 on tab small left, however, only 5GB for $40 migration plan. I got the same text about renewing.

You can still upgrade on small tab.
