I just got back from Larry the Liquidator in Scarborough. They have Ryzen 3 2200G retail box for $99.99-15% instant discount=$84.99

$165.99 on Amazon,
$119.88 at Canada Computers on clearance.

Good deal if you want to upgrade to AM4/Ryzen. You can buy MB DDR4 and this now, then save for better GPU, CPU down the road.
Even the Ryzen 3 will kill almost all of AMDs AM3+ offerings, so it will be an upgrade from any previous gen CPU

I'm tempted to buy this just to try to build my first PC.

Ya, this is seriously tempting...ummm.
Gonna look at what other parts I have laying around & work-out the cost to make a build for friend or family.
I already own a Ryzen 7 2700X & would probably have been fine with one of these + dedicated GPU with regard to what I use the computer for.
Good find OP!

I got an Asus Prime X570-P for $209 from Newegg, but if you want to put a cheap build together, and not worry about upgrade path, you can get an A320 board on Amazon for $75

The advantage of the xxxG line is they have built in GPU. The disadvantage is they are a Zen generation behind their non-xxxG peers. a 2200G is the same CPU generation as a 1700X, and a 3200G is the same as a 2700X

My wife's current build (Athlon II X4 640) has an ECS motherboard in it - I built it for her when we met in 2010.
When I bought this Ryzen, she said "I don't need a new computer, there's nothing wrong with the one I have" - YMMV

Nice effort, but his real life persona is definitely the 'other Ron' from Parks and it kills the illusion.

FYI folks, this CPU is as powerful as the i7 3rd Gen Desktop CPU, which is powerful enough for many day to day tasks.

A Celeron is powerful enough for many day to day tasks, haha.

You won't ever regret building your first PC IMO. This is an excellent deal as well.

It'll do ok for daily activities, but it will also keep a $150-250 GPU fed for 1080p gaming.
