Laser level recommendations

I'd like to buy a gift for someone who has mentioned in the past that it would be a useful tool to have especially when installing pot lights in the ceiling.

I briefly searched online but I am not sure what to get or if there is something specific I should look for. Any recommendations? Budget is around $150.

bst wrote: The Huepars from amazon are well reviewed and are pretty good for the price:

Three plane - https://www.amazon.ca/Huepar-Self-level ... 977&sr=8-6 - $175.99

Two plane - https://www.amazon.ca/Huepar-Self-Level ... 081&sr=8-9 - $129.99
Thanks. I've been watching youtube videos today and noticed these.

Some questions....are they all battery operated...I would like a rechargeable one (better for the environment)....and do I need to buy the tripod as well. For example the one below from homedepot do you just set it on the ground? Do they all do vertical and horizontal? The bosch one does not mention cross-line...what is the difference?

The Huepars are all rechargeable with their own li-ion battery. It is worthwhile to purchase a tripod as you might run into cases where you have no where to use the built in magnets.

I would go with a green laser for better visibility and the bosch one is quite outdated.

The Bosch you linked is a point laser and not a line laser.

Pretty much all the laser levels will take standard camera tripods. So you can always pick up an cheap tripod from Amazon or wherever.

Thanks. I did not know this and just read up on the difference. I prefer to go for line laser.
