The TV spots look absolutely great for this Ridley Scott film and I plan to see this in the theatre. I don't believe this movie is being shown on any PLF (premium large format) screens in the GTA which sucks.

Ridley's got another flick coming out next month with Lady Gaga called "House of Gucci" which I'm interested in seeing as well.

Older audiences are avoiding theatres.

From https://variety.com/2021/film/news/box- ... 235091240/

"as well as a sign that older audiences remain skittish about returning to theaters when COVID and its variants are still circulating. More than half of the audience for “The Last Duel” was comprised of ticket buyers over the age of 35. In contrast, just 27% of the audience for “Halloween Kills” hailed from that demographic. The bulk of the horror film’s opening weekend crowds were younger men, who have shown the greatest willingness to see movies on the big screen in the pandemic era."

I am over 35 and going to movies in the theatre, but this is far down my list of movies to see. The trailers did not impress. I dunno, maybe I am somehow biased by how awful The Green Knight is, despite its good reviews.

I'm also over 35. There's so many movies coming out right now it's hard to keep up. Precovid we'd go to maybe 4 to 6 movies a year. Usually a few marvel movies, maybe a star wars movie, and then a few other blockbusters.

Right now there's a big movie coming out every 2 weeks (or even more often). Movie studios are all dumping their movies at the same time because they've had to sit on them so long.

If this had been a movie that came out in lull between movies we probably would of gone, but we saw Shang Chi the other week and Dune next weekend. Only so much time and money to go.... Like you this one didn't make the grade in that fairly large list. I really want to see ghostbusters too.. but I'm not sure we'll find the time to get out to the theatre for that one either.

I am over 35 and this movie genre and subject matter does not appeal to me. Maybe I will watch the streaming release.

The Last Duel’ Box Office Debacle: Hollywood’s Battle for Older Moviegoers
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie ... 235032811/
Only two percent of moviegoers turning up to see Ridley Scott’s A-list The Last Duel on opening weekend were 17 or younger, while just 17 percent were between the ages 18 and 24. Conversely, more than 80 percent of ticket buyers were 25 years old and up.

The historical drama, set in Medieval France, limped to $4.8 million domestically, behind already muted expectations and a career worst debut for the well-respected Scott. The movie’s plight underscores Hollywood’s battle to win back customers 35 and older, who, before the pandemic, were among the most frequent moviegoers and would fuel a title such as The Last Duel. No longer.

Period pics are a risky genre, and Ridley’s latest feature would have faced challenges even in normal times despite major star power — Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer and Ben Affleck — and generally good reviews. Heading into opening weekend, 20th Century Studios and Disney had hoped for $8 million to $10 million.

Lol, I’d say worth a download to check out on a wintery gray snow day but otherwise…..

Definitely wouldn’t pay $$ to see it in the theatres….my money is better spent on other flicks…

Don't know what to think of it. Ridley Scott is an intresting plus but I don't enjoy everything he do. He's a good director but not in my favorite directors list. Trailer didn't appeal me either. So, don't know what to think...

The movie looks good to me, I like Ridley Scott, I like the cast, I love period movies, but I'm in no rush to see it either. Nothing screams YOU NEED TO SEE IT NOW.

yeah, this. Mostly it's easier to wait for it to show up in streaming. I like Ridley Scott too.....with the right storyline, he can do really good. Gladiator in my top movies.

To be fair, most of the movies that make bank now are MCU, Star Wars, or reboot/sequels/tieins to existing IP. It's pretty hard to make bank something new. That's why theatres have been the popcorn blockbuster flick, and the best drama content has morphed into streaming TV series.

I enjoyed this. A refreshing break from the usual fare and the 3 viewpoint storytelling adds subtle twists in the narrative

This movie would have looked good on a big screen, and actually deserves it due to the spectacle of the action scenes and the big set pieces.

I recommend it.
