"Lawn" Care Recommendations

My new "lawn" consists of a flat, square 5 foot by 5 foot patch of grass, with a smallish tree in it.
I do have to trim the grass.

1) Should I get a manual push mower or an electric string trimmer? Something else?

2) Any specific product recommendations for #1?

Thanks

You need both. The string trimmer is for trimming around the tree. Get a reel mower for the rest which should be a few pushes.

If you only buy one, then get the trimmer but get one with plastic blades instead of string.

For a 5 x 5 space, you can probably just use this:

And still get it done in as much time as most other people spend on their lawn. I think I was 45 minutes last night.

Have you considered replacing it with artificial grass? Serious question...

5 feet x 5 feet with a tree in the middle?

With that small of an area why not just get a just a pair of shears.

RIP out the grass. Put down some landscape fabric , plant some perennials like a hostas, cover the fabric with decorative stone and you are done.
