It's probably one of the best of the low end icewines. It's still pretty pricey for the volume equivalent of a can of soda, but this is probably the least I would pay for a bottle of ice wine. Any other icewine recommendations?

Not a good deal. Far too expensive.

You should not pay more than $25 for this. I always pick it up for $15 near the Queenston-Lewiston bridge at the Canadian-side Duty Free Shop before crossing over into the US.

For 375ml? The price sounds like the 200ml.

The Magnotta vidal icewine is usually at $30. I don't like icewine myself, but this is what I usually buy to give as gifts. It comes with a nice hard paper box with Canadian flag.

Yeah, unfortunately, this is how the volume of icewines typically are. I'm actually a beer/whisky guy myself, but I thought I'd get into the wine game, too. Icewine is like my transitioning phase.

I wouldn't recommend spending under $40 on a bottle of ice wine, though. I've had some of the $20 varieties; and, unfortunately, you can really taste the difference.

I haven't seen that one at my local LCBOs but if I see it, I'll give that one a try. Thanks!

Do you have any such money saving suggestions for a Montreal resident?

I'm a bit confused. Doesn't duty free mean you buy it in the States and pick it up in Canada? I'm a bit fuzzy on the concept...

I dunno, IMHO when it comes to icewine, Inniskillin > Magnotta, hence the price difference.

These are made in Canada, the duty free there is made for Americans buying the Canadian wines back to USA duty-free. That's why you would have to go to basically go to USA and bring it back in order to shop at this place, meaning you're limited to 2 bottles a person, but still a nice price if you don't need a lot.

The trick if you are going across the border is to always buy the alcohol on the Canadian side before crossing. It's cheaper when it comes to alcohol (not sure about other items like cigarettes and perfume).
