Lease Ending Acura

Family member has an '18 TLX Aspec trim lease coming up soon. Residual is around $19,500 + fees+taxes and has 35,000KM. Is it worthwhile at this price?

Selling dealer says car is out of warranty soon and thinks it's better to return the car back to them for something else with warranty. but comparing prices, the MSRP of current year TLX is through the roof.

At todays pricing and KMs, I would buy the car. The KMs are low, they didnt even drive the thing.

Do not go for another lease. It looks like Acura solely focuses on pushing their customers to lease perpetually.

I hope you are filling the thing with premium.

Have you had any issues with the car? Is it burning any oil?

Dealer wants you to give it up because they can easily turn it around and sell it for profit while profiting off you even more by taking a new lease

Buy it if you can - 35,000km is barely broken in and I wouldn’t even worry about no warranty at that point , let alone Honda cars

Wholesale/retail is both over the buyout

We check oil regularly and no loss of oil as of yet between oil changes.

It’s the 4 banger , not V6 if that makes a difference?

Keep the car, no brainer at this point. Its a nice car

My barebones Shitvic is valued more at the moment right now. That should tell you something about the state of affairs.

I had a quick look and some 2018 v6s at your km range or close are going for 37k.

I had no use for 2 cars so I sold my 2020 Acura RDX to a wholesaler and they paid off the full balance owing to Honda Canada and gave me a few grand for my trouble. I see them flip it around easily making $5K to $8K. The used car market was pretty crazy a few months ago. Not sure if it's the case now but seeing new car prices and the rates to lease or finance is crazy.

To compare, Acura kept calling and texting me trying to buy my car back. Initially they said I might have to pay a grand or so but if I'm not driving the car, that money I pay to walk will benefit me. Then they said I can just come back and drop it off and no one owes anyone anything. They made it sound like they were doing me a favour but it was obvious they wanted to make a big profit if I literally walked away from the lease.

It’s a Honda you don’t need extra warranty. At this point in time, buy it out and the sell it. You will get more mone that way.
