That Y740 has the 500 nit screen (though apparently reviews say it's closer to 450 in testing), which is better is you use the laptop outdoors at all. Also, nose webcam, AC wifi, smaller battery, and the keyboard excludes the numpad, so it's more spacious. The 9th to 10th gen jump in CPU isn't too big from what I've read.

If they included the Dolby Vision screen, then it'd be warmer. Very few gaming laptops have a 144 hz screens with a brightness higher than 400 nits.

What's better?

This? Or waiting around for the 2060 version of the Asus G15 (GA502IV) to come in stock again, which goes for $1799.99 on Amazon?

It sounds like this has way better thermals, but G15 has the 240hz screen.

One thing to note is these new 10th gen laptops appear to include the new "refreshed" version of the RTX 2060 with different memory and a higher TDP. Although, reddit posts seem to indicate while this has the new refreshed GPU, Lenovo (and Acer in the Helios 300) have still locked the TDP down at 90w.

Saw a post which pointed to the MSI GL65 10SER-219CA model that reaches the 115w rated TDP, but haven't been able to confirm yet.

G15 2060 is max-q i think. The 240hz screen would only be great if you play games like Overwatch, CS:GO, or other competitve games that can actually reach 240 fps with a 2060.

Oh that's right, you're correct ,the G15 2060 is Max-Q. So I guess you're really paying for the G15 form factor.

I realize I'm comparing a sale price of one to the regular price of the other, but the G15 has been selling out at regular price. Don't know if it's worth waiting.

Does max-q offer significant lower performance compared to regular 2060? Should I be worried if am not going to game and main purpose is 4k video editing?

Out of stock right now. I think the on-site next-day support is important. When I tried to buy yesterday, the Legion Ultimate Support was not added for some reason. I had to get chat to add. Be aware. It was 19% off yesterday (6% RAKUTEN). 10% off this morning (8% rakuten). Now its back to 19% off (but out of stock).

Lenovo site is ridiculous....

When asked when they will restock, I was told “2-3 week”....

Heck, I get if you ship in 2-3 weeks, but allowing people to order in 3 weeks? Why even post it online then.

Might as well just get this with an RTX 2070

MSI GL65 10SFK-206CA Leopard 15.6" 144Hz 3ms FHD Thin Bezel Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7-10750H RTX2070 16GB 512GB NVMe SSD Win10 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B085T8FHTX/ref ... bFbQ90Y29J

Knowing that this above is regularly priced at 1899$, I’m not sure this post is a hot deal.
