[Lenovo Canada] Legion Y520/1060 3gb MaxQ/1050ti Gaming Laptop-1235.77$/968.75$

Pass:FNDEPP

Surprised this hasnt been posted. If anyone missed the amazing price error for y720 and y520, well this isnt it, but it is a reasonable price for a good gaming laptop. I've been hesitating and waiting but I've finally pulled the trigger. Missed out on alienware, missed out on Lenovo, I dont think I'll see another gaming laptop with this spec priced under 1500$ until at least oct or even blackfriday. Cant wait to play league of legends on this badboy.

Some people are on the fence about the graphics card, someone pm'd that there is a 1050ti version for less. Edited post

This is not bad, but a similar model was available at Costco with double the RAM, HD, SSD and warranty for $165 more (but with a 1050ti). With easy returns to Costco, I would say that is money well spent.

So it wasn't similar at all

Don't forget this model has the 3Gb version of the GTX 1060, not the 6Gb version and it's also the Max-Q version (low power) so 10-15% below the regular GTX 1060 3Gb

Nvidia seriously needs to rework the naming scheme since these should all be considered different cards...

GTX 1060 3Gb Max-Q will be better than the GTX 1050ti but it's hard to find out by how much. Not a lot of benchmark available on the 3Gb Max-Q and nvidia's decision to name these 4 cards the same makes it hard to find clear info.

Just looking at transistor count and core config, 1050ti to 1060 should be around 25% gain. It's nothing like the junp from 1060 to 1070 but it's a very measurable gain still.

Does IBM/Lenovo actually check if you're an employee?

Thanks OP. Solid Post. Too rich for me but if I had the cash and was in the market I'd snap it up in a heart beat. Glad you pulled the trigger, I'm sure you'll be happy for years to come.

1060 3gb MaxQ somehow is worse than 1050ti.

That's a bold claim. Proof?

This may be irrelevant to the thread but it's Lenovo not IBM anymore. IBM doesn't make PC now, except for selling refurbished laptops from their employees.

You'll be fine for Overwatch.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Overwatch ... 833.0.html

Here are some benchmark for the game.
They don't have the GTX 1060 3Gb Max-Q but they have the GTX 1060 6GB (line 32) and the GTX 1050ti (line 55) and you should be somewhere between the 2.
